Windup watch fair question to folks who have gone before
Hi crunchers, the Windup watch fair is coming to my area in San Francisco and I’m hoping to get some time to go and see some watches in person.
Question is to anyone who has attended in the past, and I know this is a a bit wishful on my part, do the watch companies offer any discounts on day of show sales in person at the fair?

Midlife crisis is hitting me in the watch face. Wife and daughter have zero interest in watches so here I am. Crisis started with a cheap HMT watch from eBay, then a spin of the dreaded “wheel” got me...

I was at my first windup in SF last year and I believe some were offering discounts. I can’t remember if it was a majority of them but I think a lot had some sort of discount or added value to buying in person, maybe a free strap or some other goodies.
Some do, others not. Some have show only discounts and others have show discounts that you can purchase after (like direct sale on their site). It’s an incredible experience getting to talk with the brands directly, in most cases with the owners, and try on so many great watches! You’ll love it. @Max had another event thread for a Friday WC GTG, and I know Saturday is a busy day for media and events at the show. I think it’ll be bigger this year than last, which was already pretty big! Especially compared to previous shows too.

Seconding this!! Spoke with Mike France at the Christopher Ward booth and it was just a great conversation about the brand and the new pieces (and old) at the time - no pressure to buy as well, but was tempted for sure!
Nearly pulled the trigger on a Sealander C63 that I def did not need.
Was there a certain brand you were hoping to get a discount from? Personally I would be tempted by a Nodus discount when the watch fair comes to Chicago!

Not particularly, but def want to try on some different 38mm watches after trying both larger and smaller than that. Would love to see Christopher Ward, Brew, Islander and Formex person if they are going to be there. Watches online are always huge onscreen, it's good to get that in person perspective : )

Makes sense! Christopher Ward and Formex definitely have some interesting looking watches. The green dial Essence from Formex is very eye catching.
I was there last year and as someone already answered, some will offer a discount on the price of the watch and some will offer swag instead. It never hurts to ask.
Just came back from it. If you ask for the pricing on a watch: If they offer a discount, they'll mention it. The event was such a blur with so many brands that I couldn't keep track of who offered a discount and who didn't.
