I don’t have a mechanical chronograph, but I do have a Seiko solar quartz chronograph. I do want a Speedmaster. Quartz is easy to pick up out of the watch box and go. You don’t have to worry about setting the time. The best quartz is the GWM5610-1 squared Gshock. It’s a chronograph, GMT and atomic clock(if you receive the signal).
Digital watches aside, I have about an equal split between quartz and automatic.
I love being able to just put on my Casio Duro and head out. But I also love my automatics constantly charging. And I also love my only mechanical so far, a Red Star from LI Watches.
They all have different experiences when I put one on every morning, and that’s half the fun for me.

D. - Depends
You need a "They're all good" answer.
And automatic is mechanical. Self winding and manual winding is more on point.
C. Seiko
I want to say mechanical, but then comes solar quartz and just steals my heart
Automatic and mechanical are the same thing. Automatic generally refers to a mechanical watch that winds itself, ie, and oscillating weight.
Mechanical generally means a mechanical watch that is hand wound.
Both are mechanical devices.
And to answer your question. I prefer mechanical/automatic over quartz.
