In Defense of Fashion Watches
I know fashion watches are generally frowned upon by this community. However, that belief is misguided as some fashion watches have a myriad of other hidden qualities. Take for instance my vintage Hilfinger SC128a with the Type A51 micro-quartz movement. At first glance you may think this is just another solid diver watch (without a screw in crown). However, upon removing the back case you start to really understand the genius of the design team that created this masterpiece. I mean look at all that extra room inside! I like to use mine to carry around some extra rice in case I am caught out on an open ocean swim to a small island and need some extra food, but you can put whatever you want in there.

I just contacted the AD for a full service and it should only take 9 months for the repair......

AD? You have better luck dealing with vintage from defunct makers. Customer support for fashion watches outside of warranty is less than zero, and parts are unobtanium due to profoundly short, fashionable, production runs. Luckily they tend to run like cock roaches in their natural state, requiring only a new battery every presidential election or so.

I was kidding in the original post and my comment about the repair. Apologies. I believe the "AD" was some box store at the mall. However, you are correct that this thing just keeps going with a new battery now and then. Just about any quartz keeps surprisingly good time.
Man, I was happy to find out after three sentences or so (HilfiNger was a definite clue) you were being sarcastic and not another 5-star reviewer for a crappy watch :) Having said that - I’m very happy with my Gant fashion watch, which gets just as much wrist time as my other watches:

I am rocking my Fossil Chronograph to show my solidarity to fashion brands! Pulled it out from the bottom of the watch drawer.....perfect time after 4 months of storage.
A lot of the fashion watches are not overpriced but some are just dropshipped crappy Chinese quarts. They can make them for around a buck

With respect to frowning on watches. Thankfully, WC is mostly a very safe space for all.
Ignore the haters (I can't believe I just used that word). After all, some frown on fashion watches or quartz watches or Chinese watches or non-Swiss made watches or watches without in-house movements or Microbrand watches with Seiko, Miyota, or Seagull movements, or . . .).
It's star bellied Sneetches all over again. Collect and wear what you like. No one cares but us and you will almost never run into one of us in the wild.
