Wild & Windy Windup Watch fair - part deux!

Planned on spending less time here today - nope!

Chatting with watchmakers, W&W staff, and the heads of a few different brands.

Too many photos to include all in full size, let me know of any you’d like too see a better pic of a watch of or a more detailed impression of.

I’ll include some short notes and pearls of wisdom from the designers.

Formex- met Raphael, the chap who owns the brand. Young lively guy. The Leggera is very cool, carbon case with high polish ceramic bezel. Reportedly the carbon cases seem to take abuse better than other materials, according to him. Comfy and attractive watches

Image

That red dial is Ti and under 1k, but with great lume and comfy fit.

Gold plated meteor was iridescent, pattern changes constantly as you move it around

Image

Baltic - wow!

Some tables you only want to look at 1 or 2 models. Baltic, I wanted to see 10 models. Pricing aggressive, mostly under 1k with Miyota (nice!) or Seagull (no thank you) inside.

I loved the Hermetique

Polished chamfers on a DLC diver - cool!

Image
Image

crown was a bit tricky !

Furlan Mari - nice watches up close

Image
Image

Space One - very creative, and ..?

Jump hour, moon rotating the earth, carbon and anodized Ti … etc. They didn’t have much stock left as they’d sold everything through the fair!

Image

Hmm - would I wear this 🤔

Image

Anordaine. Awesome 👏 But… 2029 if you’re not already in the queue. Yikes 😱!

As crazy as it sounds.. I don’t regret pulling my name off the list from a 2025 build slot. In person, my Kurono grand Mori is same or better with its urushi dial 🙂

Image

CW - this table was insane, always 3 deep in people. So many popular models, the damsel of the dance.

Image

The CW aventurine is stunning - sprinkle sparkle dialed up to 11. Bel canto sounds amazing (I kind of want one now, Ug …). 12 is light and pretty.

But… the ‘12 X ‘ ..? Hmm. Didn’t hear a lot of praise among the crowd as it got passed around. For me - too monotone gray and illegible.

But each to there own - CW seems to perpetuatly be popular so who knows

Image

Depancel - a SUPER limited edition chronograph

It’s was so cool! Actuation and build felt excellent. This 20 watch run is with new old stock Valjoux movements that are completely overhauled. Found in a box in an old Swiss watchmakers shop who was retiring!

Not sold out yet if you’re interested. I’m not a chrono guy (that’s Mel). I think 3900?

Image
Image

7 tooth column wheel! (Movement above was not an overhauled calibre. The 20 for sale get the same but polished and buffed better.

Isotope

Freaking loved this tiny booth. The boss Jose was funny and he has so many hilarious and creative models.

Mirrored convex dial - when hand overlap arrow shape is completed.

Image
Image

Hydrium - fun colors and funny designs

Image

Flyway

Crystal, case, and dial were saddle shaped, so no reflections 🤯

Image

Not pictured - his new chronograph- it’s crazy

All subdials are masked with a small cutout to see number display. Subdial masks rotate, not hands. @ChronoGuy - you should see this one (limited model is partnered with Revolution Magazine)

Last pic : chatting with some new friends (Dave of Horage and Kathleen of Redbar) and I got a quick shot of her unique watch:

Oh yeah - bought a watch. But enough for today, post coming when I’m back home!

AnOrdain watches always look INCREDIBLE, however, I don’t think I’d be able to pull them off. That Fears jumping hour is just chef’s kiss…

It looks like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing…

Also, that GS of yours is incredible when the light hits it. Great stuff. Looking forward to see the new watch!

I know what you mean regarding ‘pulling off a watch’ : it can look great in pics but a bridge too far on the wrist!

💯 - his table was quiet when I stopped by, so we got jokey and were both laughing like crazy

So impressed with his little company

That’s the ‘exit guy’ hydrium on your wrist right? 😂

Thanks my friend! Don’t stress missing. I feel like each time this gets better (judging by pics, it’s my first time)

That’s right, buddy - the exit haha… tough choice between wearing that or “the judge”. Procuring “the blink” from a Cruncher fr England in June! Yeah, love Isotope just in case you had any doubts 😆

DUN dun DUN!

…. 🤨

I’ll write a post tonight 😜

Can wait to see the new watch!!!

I'm very intrigued by the CW 12 titanium, especially in purple. I wish there was a way to see it in person where I live though, since it's a pretty bold choice and I'm not sure I could pull it off.

I tried the blue on, and liked it a lot. Hits above its weight in all aspects.

Keep in mind it’s fume, so has a near similar amount of black and dark purple. Not like strapping a huge purple disc on wrist.

If you love it online it’s as good as it looks in person.

But I too hate buying without an in person meeting first!

·

Wow, great post! Thank you so much for sharing.

A 100%. And there are watches I’m glad exists, but I won’t be purchasing. The latest Mido TV is a great example. The AnOrdain Plum Fumé is another one. I don’t know if you can relate.
