Gettin’ Crunchy in PDX
Inspired by @SpecKTator ‘s posts on my hometown of YVR, and on a road trip in the good ‘ol USA, here is some PDX highlights from this Canuckle-head.
Did a quick morning 10k to peruse the city a bit, sadly was a Garmin on my wrist and I was too ashamed to include it in pics.
I’d heard the homeless situation was now out of hand, but on a 9am run it didn’t seem too bad and definitely not worse than my hometown. Yup, few neighborhoods I won’t be bringing my family, and a few tents in places they shouldn’t be, and garbage issues where the tents were… Parts of YVR are the same. ☹. Vancouver is where homeless from all over Canada come to.
Overall, Portland still has the great quirky vibe I remember from a decade ago.
On the recommendation of local hero @Whitesalmon we went waterfall hiking in the hills east of PDX for the day. Enjoyed some wonderful forest bathing, and a bit of very cold waterfall bathing. Forest trips = forest watch, Kurono grand Mori.

The hikes took all afternoon so didn’t get to lunch till around 3pm, and the Troutdale food trucks were perfect 👍
Evening was the International Rose garden, as stunning as I remember it.
Last stop was at Voodoo doughnuts for some unique portlandia goodness: grape ape, chuckles, and banana cream pie 🤤. Yes, kinda doughnuts for dinner, #vacationmode

Hear you man. When people swap avatars, it drives me nuts and I think there’s been some identity thief at work.
Nevertheless, I wanted to be a warmer friendlier looking human and not everyone loves bikes like me.
New pic still maintains a bit of anonymity, but still be the real me

Cheers my friend 🍻. I’d live in PDX if the right job came up at a good hospital. All cities have their ups and downs.
Fentanyl - used at work daily. Antigua or Aquafina or whatever doesn’t concern me in the least. Plywood? Occasional use around the house for my ghetto DIY projects! 😂 😜
