I heard about these Chinese market resin case Seiko 5's earlier this year and I was intrigued.
This is smaller than the other "dive" style watches at 39mm with a lug to lug of 42mm and an 18mm lug width. It features a resin case, hardlex crystal, friction bezel, 4r36 movement, and silicone band.
The caseback is held on by 4 screws.
Lume is what you'd expect from a Seiko.
The dial and hands are definitely familiar.
I kind of wish the crown was grey.
So far it seems like a neat little watch. Definitely feels cheaper than other 5's but that's too be expected. It wears well on the wrist and I expect it'll be reliable. I'm not sure if it's a keeper, something to mod, or a catch and release.

Huh. I guess Seiko decided to catch up with it's resin game. Nice.
I wonder...movement Malaysia? I thought the factory here only made NH35s and it's variants? Cool, a 4R series made in Malaysia. That's something.

It'll be tomorrow night before I have a chance but I'll snap a photo
Congrats on the new watch! Looks interesting, I may need to check these out
If it's under 150 bucks and proven to be tough then I might consider resin as a beater watch or sports watch.
But the caseback bump and 18mm strap kill this for me.
Still a great looking watch! That skx style is classic and honestly better looking than 99% of watches out there. And the new sizing seems great.
Thank you! I had no idea these exist!
And so the search begins...
I like the dimensions. This could be a fun little weekend watch, depending on the price point.

Not the best photo but pretty standard 4r36 from a 5

Yeah, looks like a standard NH36/4R36 alright. The really rough ones. I can't see any of the basic polish that's on the low end Pressage amd Prospex models.
Ahem . . . bioceramic.
I was curious about these Seikos, if they hover around the 150/200 range that's great! A pity they're a hell to find, I really like the green and blue variants with the creamy case
