Straps, Straps! And more Straps!

I need help! looking to buy 2 straps for 2 different watches. where do you guys buy your watches??

My strap collection has come from Delugs, monstraps, the strap tailor, genteel, fluco, Barton, Artem and hasnobounds.   They have all been great sellers and very happy with all my straps.

·

I only have experience with Cheapest NATO and Hirsch.

Very happy with my Hirsch, OK with my Cheapest NATO's. Will give them another try soon with strictly some NATO's.

FKM rubber and Phoenix NATOs are the ones that work for me right now. eBay is the place. 👍

Here's a decent reference:

Artem makes good "sailcloth" straps but only a very limited variety. I hate NATO straps so I cannot speak to those.

I have a few FKM straps from AliExpress which are quite good but they come in only one length which is annoying. I did a post on cutting them which works reasonably well but in my opinion modifications are never great with straps. As a matter of principle I refuse to spend more on rubber straps that cost like 0.3$ to make...

For leather I would definitely have something made on demand to get the length just perfect. I tested ABP for that purpose and the strap seems of incredible build quality (it was cheaper but of absolutely comparable quality to anything I have seen from Jean Rousseau or Camille Fournet which are both excellent but very expensive) but it isn't odourless and can be smelled from about 3 inches away so I absolutely hate it. Maybe that means they use crappy leather, I'm no expert, but I know that some ultra high end bespoke shoemakers (definitely no crap leather) have smelly leather. Clearly in a shoe it doesn't matter so much though. The one Jean Rousseau strap I have doesn't smell so if money is no constraint I'd probably go there. That said, their bespoke straps do get VERY expensive but if you contact them they can make you virtually anything.
There are some good alternatives for customisable leather straps on Etsy though. DNleatherhandmade was recommended a few days back and I ordered two straps from there recently. Don't have them yet so I cannot comment on the smell or build quality. I did get a few shell cordovan straps from an Etsy seller a few years back and those are absolutely fantastic, no smell, but I cannot find the order so I don't know the seller. Hirsch straps are quite good but I say if you want simply a leather strap you're better off getting a custom one to your liking from Etsy for the same or less money.
I had a Hirsch hybrid strap (model Robby) and that thing went through hell on my Garmin, pool and sea swims, loads of sweat while working out and the leather top held up amazingly well but the rubber is very stiff and broke at the point where I fasten the pin buckle (the upper looked still brand new after one year of daily abuse... it was surreal). If your wrist size permits it I can recommend their performance/hybrid line on a folding clasp but they only come in one length and I can't wear them that way. Initially it will be stiff and uncomfortable but eventually it conform to your wrist.

Some rather good mesh straps/bracelets can be had from Staib who also make some OEM stuff of good quality for known brands. I was going to get one but they discontinued the short size which I need.

That's what I can think of right now.

I like the selection, service, and quality of the straps offered by Vario @https://vario.sg/.

I've also used NATOstrapsco.com, Barton, and Artem.

Vario, Hirsch, Alpine all have really high quality straps that won't break the bank.
