AD Bad Experience

Has anyone have a bad experience with an AD. Just went to buy a watch at my local AD and it was not pleasant. was Not able to buy the watch I wanted and not sure if I want to go back. If this happened to anyone, what did you do?

Find another AD for the watch you want, or switch watch brands and ADs.

I've never done it with watches, but I've avoided car brands based on the dealership. There are lots of greats cars/watches out there, find an AD and watch combination you like.

Never forget that it's the AD's job to sell you a watch, not your job to convince them to sell you a watch.

There is no excuse for poor service in the watch world.  Move on.

That is unfortunate. What were you looking to buy? As others said, switch to another AD or buy it online for cheaper. However, if you were trying to find most Rolexes, certain PPs, etc, without a relationship, sadly those are not watches one can walk in and buy.

I think that the actual watch/brand is relevant to the discussion if you care to share.  It’s one thing if you were trying to buy a Seiko 5 and quite another if you are trying to buy a Cermit, with a lot of grey area in between.

I once had an AD explain to me that because he didn't sell watches to my dad or grandfather, he may never be able to sell me the watch I wanted.  I have since found another AD and purchased 5 watches, including 3 Rolexes.  Find someone you connect with and stick with them.

At least he was honest about it, but that's dumb

You know, I once went eight hours out of my way home from Couer d'Alene to visit an AD.  Got there when it opened, and was the only customer there.  Seemed no one wanted to wait on me and when they did it was very short one word answers.  She acted like she'd rather be at the dentist. She didn't take down my info (name, phone number, which models I want) and I was out of there in less than 10 minutes.  This was a day after my mom's memorial, so I wasn't in the mood to accept that, so when I got home, I wrote a scathing google review (and noticed they had tons of reviews and a very high score, so made me wonder).  The manager replied and apologized and asked me to contact him.  I did, we chatted about my experience at his place and watches in general. He stated his team is not normally like that and then asked me pieces I wanted. I originally asked him for the z-blue Milgauss and Polar Exp II, but got the Milgauss from another AD three days later.  That's when I saw the Batman on jubilee for the first time.  The next month, I asked him for that specific watch and only that one.  Had it two months later.

Sometimes, it's worth giving people a second chance.

Exactly.  I only go to two ADs for Rolex now.

Wow!  I wouldn’t expect poor treatment from an Oris dealer.  They don’t really hold a position in the market where they can afford a bad reputation.

I‘s even consider sending Oris a short message directly and see what they say.  They do seem to be a customer oriented business.

Oh wow, that is surprising. I know it is limited, but sorry to hear that from an Oris dealer.

It's limited? Huh, I saw two available online. I guess people are just waiting for the inevitable discounts.

It’s been out a while, but like most of Oris’ “limited” they rarely sell out.

A combination of only watch nerds knowing Oris even exists, then those watch nerds also have to be serious baseball fans, and finally that fact that even though it's a LE, there are 3,000 of them.

Exactly. That is why I put it in quotes. Their batches are way too frequent and large. Not to mention not just baseball fans, Pirate fans, or a Clemente fan, who did transcend the sport, but still.

This is unfortunate mate. I have had this treatment in an AD whilst with the Wife. I did not take kindly to it and informed the manager as much. I will not go back there. I believe half the problem is the induvial staff that are employed rather than the brand the AD is representing, the pretentious attitude and looking down at their customers is a dangerous game.

In this modern society and current economic climate these luxury brands should think themself lucky that there are people out there willing to drop thousands on a watch we don't need to survive. like others have suggested if you go AD for a watch, your doing it for the luxury experience, so they failed in the primary purpose. you should name and shame to save others from this place

I went to a Rolex AD and went there to look at some Rolexes I just wanted to see and first thing he ask me if I was gonna buy. I told him no not at the moment I notice he rolled his eyes at me when I ask a question and about the Submariner. He had a snobbish attitude he asked me what kind of watch I had on and it was Invicta quartz. He told me in a nicely manor I will never know nothing what is like wearing a Rolex if I keep wearing homage watches. I told him well I got to start from somewhere. I kept my cool and I left. I still new on this hobby just wanted to see hopefully let me try it on to see what is to try a watch on. And not even that.
