Sunday morning with a watch nerd....

6:45a.m - I wake up (stupid body clock). Attempt to go back to sleep. Fail.

8a.m. I give in and start making breakfast.

9a.m. We discuss that it would be nice to go out for the day - he chooses his first watch of the day

9.30 a.m. He disappears muttering that he's "just going to polish this watch quickly"

10 a.m. He's still polishing

10.15 - He starts polishing a second watch.

10.45 a.m. He decides to change the strap of 3 of his watches. Changes into second watch of the day.

11.20 a m. Changes into third watch. Starts winding watches.

11.40a.m. Changes into 4th watch - only now are we finally ready to go out....

Anyone else?!

Get him help before it's too late.

Hahaha that’s not me. I’m one and done for a few days. However, I’m sure I have other symptoms. I’m sure he feel compelled to do it. This watch disease has a whole bunch of symptoms.

We were going to the zoo as we are annual members but ended up watching TV all day

I fear it's already too late!

I'm just worried he's going to drag me down with him ... I'm already on the slippery slope

I like to wear my dress watch that sees the least wrist time on Sundays to keep the oils from drying. I decided I wanted to change strap this morning and ended up conditioning leather straps for an hour, then moved to boots while I was at it... So I can relate. 😂

It's just tough tearing yourself away sometimes I guess!

Watches- Plural!

Woke up in the wrong time zone. Looked outside at the wildfire smoke blowing in from Canadia and settled in on the couch to catch up on my Watch Youtubes.

·

I get most of the indecision over with the night before, I narrow it down to two and set them out, in the morning either I will pick one or I wear both to avoid choosing, after all I do have two wrists

·

I didn't even set my watch until after 10:00am. Just in time to take a pic for WRUW near 10:10. Goals pretty much accomplished for the day.

·

Sleeping to 6:45am would be like a mini vacation. Weekend = 3 or 4 watches per day.

·

I feel seen. Sigh.

I feel seen. Sigh.

I find this strangely reassuring to be honest

But what happens if something changes during the night and throws it all off? 😜

Eurgh, are those still noticeable where you are?

Yeah. AQI is fluctuating between 60 and 180 in the Mid-Atlantic states.

I’m afraid he’s terminal. If we had caught it earlier there might have been a chance.

Then I go with my default emergency choice, Citizen PMD56-2951

My wife is the smart one in any room when it is just she and I, occasionally she totally loses it with me which is extremely upsetting to me because I adore her but definitely not a man who is very good at expressing his feelings and regrettable behaviour. On one occasion I decided to gift her a designer sterling silver bracelet that was nice but overpriced, came with a large polishing cloth that might cost $25 retail, the sort of cloth that I like to polish my pens and even watches with. My genius wife decided to safely store away the polishing cloth, basically to keep it away from me. It has never been located since. A polishing cloth doesn’t do anything for stainless steel, works like a charm on sterling. We were getting ready to attend our daughter’s birthday party yesterday, she decides to wear the badly tarnished bracelet since it matches her outfit for the evening. I agreeably offer to polish the bracelet if she will just produce the complimentary cloth. Of course I have a stack of polishing cloths but I still hold a grudge for all the times she criticized me for making sure one of my watches is presentable before we venture out. It will be 37 summers since we said our “I dos” not counting the years we dated. We are an old married couple and have exhausted the surprises that old married couples plan, I saw a nice hard to source timepiece designed for ladies who care about horology in some glossy publication shared the idea with her over our morning coffees. She was interested until she suspected that I might be planning something for myself also and shot down my good intention.
