Rarer than a Rolex Explorer? The Russian Explorer!

I’ve spotted a fair few Rolex Explorers in the wild but only one Raketa Big Zero! It’s a quirky piece and I can’t think of another watch that has a ’0’  rather than a 12! Any owners out there?!

Any writing on the case back

I love these and spent months trying to find one that was in good condition and original enough. Like happens sometimes, I moved on to other infatuations. The ones that I saw that had the right handset, case, etc. were in rough shape. All the bright and shiny ones were frankenwatches. Here is a handy guide to help. These watches just look cool.

Well, it is obviously rarer than a Rolex Explorer, because there were much less pieces produced. But rarer doesn't mean better or higher value ))). There are a lot in Russian second-hand market in decent condition and even new big zeros with updated movement by Raketa. But it is very expensive - about 1350$. The original ones are from 50 to 250$. Just found a new old stock in white without bracelet for 120$

Yes, the "0" @ 12 is pretty rare. Only other watches I know of with that are both Hamilton's. The H78615985 (Navy scuba) & the H78505330 (Below Zero) come to mind. A unique design.

I have an occasional look on eBay and they pop up for around 70-120, but as you say with any old hands that were in watch makers reach!! Perestroika :) !

Yes!  My Avi-8 flyboy engineer also has a

0 for a 12 😉👍
