Watch nerd day
Today was a watch nerd day for me. I just went to The Galeria mall in Houston to check out the new swatch moonwatches and ended up also going to check out some Tudors, Longines, and Omega. But the ones that stood out the most were the Grand Seikos. Beautiful watches. I also ended up talking with another watch nerd at the swatch store. He was wearing a Tudor bb58 and I had on my 1926 so we just talked watches for 20 minutes. Pretty fun day

Yea. They have them on display. I also asked if they’d be selling the box but apparently they aren’t

it’s a swatch store. I don’t really know of any authorized dealers that sell swatches
Grand Seiko is a crazy rabbit hole. It's so addicting that everyone keeps telling me that I need to change my handle from "Omeganut" to "GSnut" now!

I was amazed at how beautiful the light play of the indeces and cases were on the ones I tried on. It makes omega and Rolex look like cheap watches.

Like, I'm a diehard Omega fanboy, because of James Bond... pew, pew. I love my Omegas. But, really, honestly, I only love Omega because when I was 25, I was in New York City, and my now-wife and I were staying at a place near Times Square. And I looked out the window, and there was this huge billboard with Pierce Brosnan on it, in a tuxedo, with a gun in hand, and it said, "Omega... James Bond's choice." And, somehow, in my mind, I just gobbled up that marketing message like manna from Heaven.
So, nearly 25 years later, I've always simply assumed that Omega must be THE amazing watch in the world - I mean, otherwise, why would James Bond choose it, right?
And I could have gone on for the rest of my life in blissful ignorance, were it not for the fact that a buddy of mine started talking to me about Grand Seiko, and how their watches are out of this world, etc., etc.
"Yeah, whatever, Clive. Deep down, you're just a reverse Twinkie - white on the outside, yellow on the inside."
But, I then made the mistake of going into a GS boutique... and now I have more GS watches than I do Omegas!

Yep. I’m also an omega fanboy and brosnan was also the instigator for this obsession. But I was truly amazed. Ive been reluctant to take all the reviewers impressions seriously, especially since they all cream over Rolex, but in this case, I agree that GS is in a league of its own considering their price point.
Now I gotta go to the galleria. 🧐
