Oh wow, that must not have made it across the pond.

The short version is that a video surfaced about 10-15 years ago of a very, very, extremely drunk ‘Hoff laying on a floor and attempting (poorly) to eat a cheeseburger, with most of it ending up on the ground. It was all over the place here and was a big ~scandal. For years after, it seemed like you couldn’t swing a dead cat online without hitting a gif from it.

I’m guessing he has excellent lawyers (no surprise), because images from that video appear to be almost entirely scrubbed from the internet—an impressive feat!

Grew up watching KIT catching bad guys. Car was so cool, but even as a kid I thought the Hoff was a bit campy and over the top.

Had heard he was more popular in Germany than in North America so that made made him seem even weirder, or Germany even weirder.

Had forgotten what his watch looked like but do remember him talking to his wrist to have chats and summon his slave car

At my old workplace, if someone forgot to lock their laptop while stepping away from the desk, we'd sneak up to his/her laptop, download the half naked Hoff image (from a company server), and make it the background for the laptop. After a while, no one forgot to lock their laptops.

Oh god.... I had to do it... I had to go looking for it, and I found it.... I think even the Hoff struggles to make eating a cheeseburger off the floor sexy, but I'm so glad I'm not a celebrity who has to worry about the ramifications of ever stupid thing they do when drunk, and I'm VERY grateful the internet didn't exist when I was a stupid teenager.

My son assures me the mullet is coming back into fashion! But only if paired with a 'tash.
