I think it's a form of ironic humor. You know it's bad, and you wear them or buy them as a joke. "Look how bad this is!" Think of it as intentionally watching a bad movie with friends with the purpose of making fun of it.
I'm much more into design, and I don't like the proportions to the Elvis80 as much compared to the original. It's odd it's called the Elvis, as the one Elvis wore looked like the standard Ventura (just with an electric movement).
I have no issue with quartz as a movement. I prefer the look of the quartz model, as the aitomatics generally have an open heart display, but I feel that takes away from the Mid Mod design.
It's an extension of the cellphone, as opposed to being a watch. It's visually unappealing to me. It's too casual to be worn with anything more formal than a T-shirt. It's very expensive, and constantly needs to be updated with newer models.
