Any love for Dunhill?

When I was in my buy it all from Ebay phase I picked up the Dunhill DM7 ani-digi watch and then found the bracelet in another auction.

Reading into it Dunhill have made a lot of watches over the years but I don't think they make anything now.

They used to also use JLC movements in their automatic watches.

So any Dunhill fans out there want to share their pieces?

I am shocked that they made something so modern looking as I thought they were a pretty traditional old school brand.

@Hannahcowell @Saree1968 & @KCSpike are suspected owners. If they don't post up, @Aurelian and I will comment on whether Dunhill is a fashion brand or not. I know they sold blazers and cigarette lighters more than I know they made watches.

Yeah I think they do a lot of leather products so over the years I guess the accessories line of things branched out to include watches. I have seen a lot of versions of this faceted crystal which works well for me in the office when I have plenty of other ways to tell the time accurately

Looks awesome 👏

I've never heard of Dunhill before, but there's lots I don't know about watches & the world.

Not too shabby of a piece. I'd proudly wear it.

They are a British brand, still going but I don't think they make any watches now. I found that a lot of the ones on sale on Chrono 24 seem to be in Japan,

Used to go to the variety store all the time to buy my dad his Dunhill cigarettes. Got to buy candy or slushies with the change.

Hi guys,

Indeed I do own a Dunhill (pic attached).

The model is the Centenary, and it's powered by a manual wind ETA 2660 movement. It was manufactured in the early 90s as part of a four model range created to celebrate the brand's anniversary.

Indeed, as DCooke writes, Dunhill used at some point JLC movements but clearly not in this watch. Some of their watches also had cases made by Cartier which may have been the case here, although I don't think it's very likely.

From what I've read, Dunhill actually started as a manufacturer of watches for cars' dashboards... but most of it's history it's been a fashion and cigarette brand, with somewhat weak ties to the watch world.

Wow, I haven't seen those in a long time. I recall them having a wide flat box with gold edges and possibly a royal warrant? Anyway, that brand is named after Alfred Dunhill but otherwise unrelated. Apparently the cigars stopped being made a long time ago.

Alfred Dunhill, Ltd is owned by Richemont nowadays.

I bought a nice Dunhill back in about 1990. It was very cheap and was being sold out of a briefcase just inside the gates of a scrap yard. I'm sure it was real! 😉.

It was actually a really goid watch, kept good time etc. Not sure what happened to it.

You’re exactly right! These were the packs.

Very interesting. So much to learn about other brands.

·

I think I've only seen dunhill as a supermarket parfume brand here in continental Europe.

Cool watch nonetheless.

Yeah they do perfume as well, or the used to, not sure what the brand offer these days.

·

Dunhill also made chronographs housing the el primero! You can still find them for around 2k USD

At last a Dunhill post. I was very surprised when I joined WC that Dunhill wasn’t mentioned under British watches. It’s a very historic men’s outfitter that was making watches from the early 20th century. Here’s my Dunhill RPM chronograph. It’s has the same ETA movement as the Speedy and Monaco of the same Era.
