OK everybody it’s a new game! What’s that watch in your collection where you were really pumped up, bought it, got it home put it on, took one look at it and went “What the HELL was I thinking?!?!?!”

Two seperate watches... the ever sexy Citizen Avion (below), and the Nighthawk. Gorgeous watches, amazing movement, great size... And literally the opposite of what my shifting needs were going (clear and legible, small and unobtrusive). Having them on my wrist for a few days really solidified for me where my watch collection was needing to go ha!
Yes, my Grail when I got it 3 years ago. I'd wanted it since it's release in 2014, but life got in the way and I wasn't in a position to buy it for years.
Needless to say in that time I'd built it up in my mind to the point I thought it'd transform my whole life...
So when the day finally arrived and I got it I was very nervous (many £1000's more than I'd ever spent on anything other than motorbikes) and very excited. When I finally opened it I was disappointed that it didn't give me magic powers or make me irresistible to women. It was/is a superb watch, but it's "only" a watch.
Thankfully since then I've accepted that it's "just" a brilliant timepiece and I genuinely love it a little bit more every time I wear it 😀👍🏻

Still fairly sensible choices though. Not like this 10 ounce steel monstrosity that I sent off to China for. I immediately realized why the real thing is made of titanium. :)

Somehow you are making me glad I will never be able to afford my grail. When I had to accept it wouldn’t make me part of the Cousteau team I would doubtless be heartbroken. ;)
No regrets here

Never a silly purchase huh? Well you’re stronger than I.

Most of the watches in my collection have served me well. The other watches in my collection were received as gifts.

Fair enough. Personally I have a terrible problem with impulse buying. I admire your resolve.

I just bought two watches in the last week, I just tend to research before buying
😄Definitely my Festina Tour de France. I can't believe I actually wore this thing, and for quite some time too. It must be 50 something mm. It is double the size of the Submariner

As someone currently wearing a Ploprof homage I don’t get to point fingers. :)
Hammered 2 … I still like #zelos but this is a bit too silly thick for my taste these days. 17mm thickness!
A late night eBay purchase that seemed sensible at the time. This monster 46mm (or 48mm?) Tissot Antimagnetique. 1924 pocket watch modified for wrist duty at a later date.

I really like it!
For me, there were two, maybe 3. Number 1 was a Flieger (type B) from Corgeut. Problem: the hour hand was not directly tracking the inner hour ring on the display, undermining that careful design from the 1930s. Worse: that was visible in the original product listing, but idiot me failed to spot it. Number 2 was Starking's homage to the Nomos Lambda, where idiot me had failed to notice that the power reserve indicator was nothing of the sort, in contrast to other homages of that watch. Number 3 was a vaguely Panerai-inspired Parnis, where the loom [the stuff that would have been loom on a Panerai] was not loom but paint.
That’s what really killed the king tuna homage here. I was expecting Steeldive’s incredible lume and it was almost worthless.

I’d wear it
That's what I say every time I get drunk and discovered I bought an Invicta.

I have YET to sink to that, for me its Steeldive.

I don't think I have ever bought a Steeldive that I couldn't wear in public. I, apparently in an inebriated state, bought this monstrosity . . . It is 51.5 mm wide.

Impressive, the Steeldive at the top of this posting is the only one I don't wear in public. Its 10 oz of I still don't know.......
It hasn't even arrived yet, but I already regret buying this:

Its a Pagani, it will be fine, it will have ok build quality and work properly. I'm just not a much of a chrono person.

Nor me. This will only be my third or fourth... I never use them.
Lets just say my personal taste has changed a little over the years. But thank you!!🍻
I bought into the hype …. Really disliked it in hand
I did buy a quartz "Seagull" ripoff, mainly for amusement, for the price of a packet of cigarettes. It turned out to be larger than advertised and easily rivals my Duro in size at least in perception if not actual measurements.
It can look reasonable on the 22mm blue croc strap borrowed from my Duro:
or maybe even the hybrid leather/canvas strap that usually graces my scubadude:
Its one redeeming feature is its accuracy which is pretty close to my Casio quartz watches despite the cheap Chinese Sonoy brand movement. It is accurate as long as you can set the time correctly, there is about a third of a turn of freeplay in the crown when I try to adjust it. Pushing the crown in and keeping the set time takes a few attempts.
