Does the Zephyr has what it takes to make me look respectable today?

@Porthole described the Lorier Zephyr as something that fell out of a cracker box. He may be right but unfortunately he is also not the one who has to do a management presentation today. The presentation is fine, it's short, informative and I even put in some effort to make it look presentable.

The problem is that I couldn't be arsed to put the same level of efforts into making myself presentable. Since I'm lazy I decided it's enough to wear a watch that looks dressy and doesn't project the impression that I'm planning on invading their offices next week. So...Lorier Zephyr instead of the Amphibia that I wore yesterday?

The contrast between them is hilarious in my eyes. It also proves that it's much easier to take a quick shot of an acrylic topped watch rather than one fitted with a glittery sapphire. The pattern on the dial is also not really helping since it's partly guilty for the light scatter, which can also change the color of the watch under different angles.

Like making it look as if it's the same color as the coffee cup. Speaking of which, I'd better finish mine and find a shirt that I didn't forget to iron before I head out.

Cracker Jack Box or not, I Love the Zephyr and think it offers an extremely high-end look for very little monies. Good luck with the presentation!

I have just the thing:

A Cracker Jack box?! 🙄 The Zephyr is a nice piece - something that punches well above its weight imo. Good choice for a more formal situation 👍

I actually said Christmas Cracker… I think it’s the red and gold.

My own issue with the Zephyr, not that it means anything, is that whilst it probably fulfils the brief in being a retro-inspired watch with a roughly tank/tonneau-shaped case, it falls into the uncanny valley whilst doing so. It is difficult for me to pinpoint why, but there is something about it that isn’t vintage enough as it is too big, and is also not modern enough for me to allow it a pass. Not quite a Roadster or Tank, but nothing like a Squadron or anything Borgel-cased like my Allproof. I will refrain from any final judgement for when I eventually try one on.

The Zephyr is fine as a dress watch. I think that people will notice an unironed shirt much more than the Zephyr though.

I see that I keep mis-quoting you, my bad. Mine doesn't have any gold but I don't have any experience with real vintage to say if you are right or wrong about the accumulation of small issues that push it into uncanny valley.

But I can understand the feeling because this is exactly what happened to me when I got my SPB147. I was looking for a modern 62MAS and the SPB...well it may be a good watch but it isn't a good 62MAS.

That's a very attractive watch that stands on it's own.

·

It looks more than presentable! Dressy but with a twist. You will kill it!

·

An amazing dial. My daily look is closer to the utilitarian Vostok, but that Lorier is a beaut and I'm glad you brought it to my attention!

·

I think it will look fine for your presentation.

Just remember, picture everyone in the room as if they were naked.

That's supposed to help with nerves.

Glad I could help.

·

I think the Lorier Zephyr is a classy looking watch.
