First Watch Purchase

I just made my 1st watch purchase! I’ve been researching all kinds of reviews and fell in love with this watches particular look. Should be arriving middle of next week!

Reasons I made this decision:

  1. I live an active outdoor life here in Colorado, but also wear a suit for my job where I meet with many doctors on a day to day basis. So a watch that can adapt to many environments was needed.

  2. I love the vintage style look with the modern upgrades it has.

  3. Probably the most important factor was that my wife likes it too. The price tag was a little much for her to swallow, not because it would be a burden for us but, more that I have never been into watches before the last couple of months. For a 1st watch she was concerned that I was being impulsive. Then she remembered ALL of the watch videos I had been watching (a lot of with she watched too lol not by choice) and has agreed this watch was the one.

  4. The last reason is when I was watching more videos on watches I couldn’t stop comparing those watches to this one in my mind. That’s when I knew this was going to be the perfect 1st watch.

That is a beautiful first watch. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy.

Everybody's different, but to me this is a great purchase. This is a watch I've almost bought in the past, and may actually buy one day. I think you'll be pleased.

·

Great choice!

Congrats on a great first choice!

·

Really good choice. Beautiful watch and agree ticks all the right boxes.

·

Congratulations on an excellent first watch!!!! You have done well. Gorgeous watch

·

Good choice! I have the same one. Can I recommend a strap? This one looks like it was made for the Baltic, and it’s also quick release so you can easily switch between the bracelet and strap. https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLKrA1W

My next watch on rubber strap 👍

Congratulations! Great choice. Just wait until you get it in the sun. The web photos do it no justice.

·

Wonderful choice, from all the picture it's a beautiful watch. I agree with your thinking, it's rugged and good looking so very versatile.

·

Nice watch! Great design, screw down crown, sapphire crystal, Miyota movement, good value for the price, what's not to like?

It might be your first watch but it won't be your last 😉

nice pick up

Nice choice for a first watch, way better than many choices you could have made ( looking at you swatch / Omega )

Thanks man!!

Two words given. Incredible choice.

It’s nice to have reassurance! I’m excited to actually get it on wrist!

I just have been a bad influence on a young guy taking extra shifts at my job. I did show him a lot of different stuff. "Entry level" stuff: Citizen, Seiko, Orient, Laco, Tissot, Certina and a bunch of micros. And this is what he fell in love with too 🤔 Aquascaphe

Well I’m glad that I’m not alone in this! I just thought for the price I’m getting a watch that could fill so many roles for me!

True! I kinda felt bad... I tried to push him towards checking out some second hand japanese watches to much less. But his heart was set 😅 He was gonna think about it, but I suspect he will pull the trigger soon if not already

The black and cream was my first as well! That was about a year and half ago. It has been through a ton and looks better with a few scratches on it! I had to send it back for a misaligned bezel, but Baltic send it to a watch shop in New York I think with no cost to me. So easy to work with! They even tighten the bezel so it feels so clicky and tactile. It took like 5 days or something insane.

Make sure to get a lot of straps. It sings on natos and leather.

YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Hey thanks for the positive feedback! I’m very excited to get it in my hands and on my wrist! I’ll be sending updates as I do! I’ve got my eyes on a couple of straps to try for it and would love any input you have for combinations!

I’m going to try my best to keep this slow and steady pace as far as collecting. Try to find out situations where this watch doesn’t work (hiking, working out, etc) and fill that “need” (want lol). Someone already suggested a Gshock. Definitely like the durability and price point, just not sure it’s quite my style (if I really have any😂). I’d love input on your watch buying process to keep me from my moderately impulsive nature in the future!

You wont be needing anything else!! This watch is durable, water resistant is a perfect combo of classy, sporty and casual. You can just take it of if you are doing something very extreme. A couple of straps and you will be set.

The question isn't what you'll need but what you want 😅 You don't want advice from me! I have probably been through 40 watches over the last 6 years or so. Many of them could been stayers in a stable and small collection, but as the numbers suggest... That never happened. I have owned solid, versitile and interesting pieces, but they have all been swapped out with time. The Oris 65, Seiko Turtle, Seiko Arnie and now my Black Bay 36 are the pieces that have stayed for longer periods.

You need to find your own way, but I believe that less is more. And appreciation is about mindset.

You might find this really helpful. The title is a bit clickbait-y, but the perspective is gold.

I love it! Very comfortable to wear and looks good with a suit and casual wear! I’m trying to take my time looking for the next watch because I know my taste will change, but I’ve got a few I already know I want (Hamilton Khaki Field, Seagull 1963, Seiko GMT, a GShock, etc.) lol Also, been looking into a Bulova Lunar pilot, but I’m still researching. I didn’t think I would happen to me but I’ve had to practice some impulse control tbh😂 I need to post some pictures of the watch on here as well as a review. Thanks for asking!
