Update: been wearing it on my wrist the past 48 hours and somehow it ran out of power reserve at some point because it was a few hours behind.
I agree with you that it’s most likely a marketing led product planning decision. It’s not the reason I bought mine, but I can see how someone in the market would be. Now I’m a bit ticked off that they didn’t go for a tried and tested solution, but what do I know. Maybe they shift enough product to leverage economies of scale over something like a third party supplied movement? I’ll wear it non stop for another week before contacting Yema about the matter.
Really like those Willards. How does it wear compared to the SBP079? I have one of those as well, but personally I think it might be a tad large for me.

It’s a personal preference thing. I’d go with the sapphire every day of the week, as I value the caseback and added resistance to scratches that it offers. Some people don’t like the “milky” edge along the sapph models, and of the opinion that it doesn’t belong on a Moonwatch. I call BS on that, think its a perfect addition to the modern interpretation of the Speedmaster Professional. I will admit that a hesalite feels... warmer, somehow?
It locks into the notches on the bezel, and not the top part where the numbers are. On the contrary, I actually think it has protected the bezel so far.
