Cruise ship watch spotting.

Just got off the Icon. What watch did I see the most? Rolex, by a long shot. Not counting Apple Watch, cause that could arguabley be the number one also but we ain’t talking about that. EVERYONE had a Rolex, not many other brands repped really. A few APs, saw one Nautilus and one 7friday. Last day I ran into a dude with a Christopher ward and that made me happy. Next time I cruise imma try and set up a meet? Anyone else on the ship with me this week? Oh yeah I tried on the worlds biggest invicta and might have told the guy my unfiltered opinion of their brand… oh well.

What do you mean. 3000 dollars marked down to 150 is a STEAL. It’s also 70mm and looks like a technicolor nightmare lol.

Invicta produce horrible watches

That's an unfair generalization, Paul. People seem to judge Invicta based on the wacky shit they see, not their sensible watches like their divers. The build quality is excellent and I have a bunch of 'em, mostly Grand Divers like you see below.

Most of their watches I won't wear - they're ridiculous looking - but their divers are excellent, with respectable workhorse NH35A movements, 300m WR and reasonable pricing. Peace, brother.

Hey Nick, I'll be going on a cruise in a little over a month and I'm looking forward to scoping out the watch scene on the ship too. It'll be Holland America, a line we've not yet been on, but I imagine the clientele will be older and therefore more traditional on the wrist, so to speak.

I imagine the ship's watch store was expensive, correct? I'd love to buy a watch on our cruise as a remembrance if the prices aren't ridiculous.

Aren't you more likely to have to pay $300 for an Invicta you can buy for $99 online while you're aboard a cruise liner?

It’s definitely not the place to buy a pre owned Rolex I can tell you that.

No argument there, Jamie @Stroud_Green , you are correct (although 3x might be a bit much).

What I'd really like to find is a Citizen Tsuyosa, and as long as it's not highway robbery, I'd bite the bullet and pay a bit more just to say I bought it on the ship on that trip. But I'll have to see the pricing and make the decision there. Who knows, maybe they'll have a "sale" or some things on clearance?

But you're right.

Go rangers!

Good news: Invicta makes waaaaaay bigger watches than that!

Fair and valid points! I was just thinking about their freaky looking watches!

They had both, and sales around 30%. One Tsuyoa (green), and one devil diver (Pepsi).

Fuck yeah dude. Imagine my face watching them win the winter classic while in the Bahamas. It was epic.

Among other of course. It I didn’t like em

·

I hope you had fun. That Invecta is...well...I have no words.

·

I have the watch counter on a cruise ship to blame for getting back into watch enthusiasm, so it’s fun to see what’s selling on the various boats.

How did you like the Icon otherwise?

What a comeback. 10 win streak too with today's win. Love that Igor's back in form

·

A lot of hobbyist groups have group cruises, a watch cruise might be really fun.

·

Glad you had fun! In the 1990s, I wrote key portions of the reservation system that AFAIK is still used by Royal Caribbean today.

But, c'mon, show a little love for Invicta! It's a classic brand that may have lost its way...or found a different way that might not be our thing, but somebody buys it... This is a collab with the Cuban brand Cuervo y Sobrinos (who also did collabs with Rolex, Longines, and many other major brands back in the day).
