Getting stuck in a watch rutt?

Have you ever found your self wanting a new watch so badly but, never actually pulling the trigger on one for what ever reason and cannot seem to find that right fit? Ya know? We all have those things in us that make us buy specific watches and don't buy others. I've been stuck in a rutt as they say not being able to find a watch that I love every part of and can afford lately. I'd like to know what would everyone do if the had only $1500 to spend on watches this year of 2023, what would you choose and why? It most certainly can be multiple as well because that's is the most likely route I'd take. Let me know your thoughts! Cheers WatchCrunchers!⌚️😎👍🍻

I’m right there with you. I have my eye on a few and lucky enough to pick up one at the end of the year wirh a work bonus but it’s hard to really fall in love with anything. I think I’ve talked myself out of everything. Too much time to think!

$1500 I would probably snag a Furlan Marri 2154-a. Need a proper dress watch

You’re doing the right thing. Don’t buy for the sake of buying because while it will offer you a momentary rush, you may find that you regret the purchase in the long run, especially if you’re saving for your idea of perfection.

If I had $1500, I would buy 1 watch as my entire collection comprises of watches under $800, with most under the $500 mark. There are a lot of great choices at the $1500 price point, but for me, I’d go with the Formex Essence.

I think it's natural to hit a point where you don't want to pull the trigger on a new watch. It could be for any number of reasons... maybe you already know you don't wear a dozen other watches, so why add to the pile... maybe you know you don't really have the money for it... maybe you know it won't really add to your collection... maybe you know it's just trying to get a dopamine hit from buying the thing... or 101 other reasons. Sometimes if you gut says 'don't buy', you shouldn't buy. Trust your gut. It's usually right.

As Schopenhauer already said: „… to attain something desired is to discover how vain it is“.

Stick to your guns until something comes along that absolutely strikes your fancy and which lives rent free in your head for days and weeks on end.

Then you’ll know you want it (and, consequently, discover how vain even that is… 😅)

I'm not really in a rut. Just pacing myself given the economic situation, and many other expenses to consider. But with $1500, I'd easily be able to get 5 of my target 7 pieces. 😉

Put the money to an other use, go on a nice holiday and take some wrist shots while there of something you already have. 👍

If I had $1500 guilt free to spend, it would probably be this no logo, no date Stowa flieger in bronze

I would advice you to buy what you really want, within budget of course. But if you don't like it, why pull the trigger? Also, if you can save up for a better choice, you can do that as well rather than buy something less just because you can afford it right now. That's where regrets may come...

Agreed! I'd visit my son in a heartbeat!

I’m not sure which watch I’d get. Usually I see different pieces here and there and I usually stew on whether I want them or not (like the Seiko Speedtimer Go Large! edition or the SPB237) and then if it’s still on my mind, I go for the purchase. I also don’t know if all of that cash would go towards one watch or multiple watches.

Ultimately, I’d do a heavy amount of research before pulling the trigger 😅
