What would you choose?

I'm on the waiting list for a Rolex Explorer 40mm and I'm considering to leave this silly game. Who knows when it get "the call"? Tomorrow? In 3 years time? I know, these watches have not much in common but I like them both. 馃槉Copyright for the photos: Rolex, Seiko.

Easy choice for me. I got my 40 within three months of doing the EOI. The AD was also fantastic throughout the whole process. Stay the course, brother. 馃檪

36mm Explorer.

I would get the Cherry Blossom over the Explorer.

I dislike the Explorer less.

All I will say is good luck and all the best and I respect your choice and am happy for you if you get what you want.

Rolex is overpriced and those who have not gotten a Rolex has missed the boat. The faux/manufactured exclusivity is the icing on the shitty cake. Even at RRP, they just aren鈥檛 worth it.

36mm Explorer.

I'm 2m tall, 110kg - 36mm is too small for my liking.

Mmmmm鈥 shitty cake. As someone whose tent is solidly in the 鈥渄one with Rolex鈥 camp, I think I鈥檇 wait this one out and go with the Rolex. I think the market is changing and ADs can鈥檛 unload to the greys as easily or dependably like they used to, so 鈥渃ivillian deliveries鈥 are more and more back on the menu. The GS is a nice watch. But that one is鈥 pretty niche I think. The Explorer I is much more 鈥渃lassic鈥. However, if you love that GS and won鈥檛 be taking a beating to move it on.. go for it. That AD will be THRILLED to sell it

To you.. directly.. and without having to take a bite of 鈥渟hitty cake鈥.

Thank you! I'm leaning towards the Explorer atm.

I actually tried on the explorer yesterday for the first time. It鈥檚 a piece that suits a daily wear. Not loud, but a simple/basic timepiece built like a tank.

The GS is a beauty, but in my opinion not a daily wear.

I voted for the GS mainly because I have my fill of Rolex and would look to diversify to something else.

But if you鈥檙e looking for a daily watch, the explorer may be the one for you.

That's what I'm looking for. I also love the history of the Explorer. If only I were more patient...馃槃

You鈥檒l get it sooner than you expect. ADs aren鈥檛 getting more, because less people are buying Rolex now that they鈥檙e trading down on the secondary market.

I just can't get over that power reserve display. Without it GS all the way.

This is when a value retention question comes into play with me. It鈥檚 either up or brick. The Rolex you won鈥檛 get sick of and the pink is actually very mild in person and for me not as appealing. And I like gloss black dials

I'm partial to the Rolex. To me the Grand Seiko is just another watch that you would get because of the look or innovation (Spring Drive) after you satisfy your thirst for Rolex or other Swiss brands. Plus, it still says Seiko. In this world where Japanese automakers give a different name to their luxury brands relative to their parent brand, Honda - Acura, Toyota - Lexus, Nissan - Infinity. Hell, even Korean brands do it, Hyundai - Genesis. Why then is it "Grand Seiko" I'm not saying that it's not an exceptional watch, because it is, but really, adding the "Grand" to the name. Did someone just say add "Grand" to it because it's a better watch than their standard Seiko, or was it because instead of paying hundreds, you will be paying thousands (Grand).

Voted Rolex, but a tougher choice than i thought it would be. In the end i think its the darker face that does for me in that watch!

I know I said I鈥檇 pass on any watch out there for a spring drive鈥 I was wrong, that Explorer!

I made up my mind (sort of馃槃): I'll wait! 馃槃
