Views on the $27,500 Oris?

Oris Watch

Think Oris went overboard with this watch, the original Oris Aquis was a great looking watch even the one with the plastic recycled dial but this is asking for too much and in my opinion, great looking dial but don't like the fact that it is missing the markers and just looks a bit bland.

Why so much??? Did they only make 1??

·

I didn't realize that what cost so much.  I think it looks nice, but I thought the price was in like with the other Aquis limited editions.  Not at that price

·

youll need a very specific customer for that

·

I wouldn't.

Hand Painted dial is probably why

Very specific target market, this watch isn't for everyone.

Is this steel or more likely white gold?  Even then a lot of money for an Oris

According to Hodinkee, it has a stainless steel case.

Damn that's a hell of a lot for a steel Oris

I reckon it's probably a major gamble on their end to try and push towards a higher price segment.

I hope they applied what JC Biver always said - and I'm paraphrasing from memory "if you think you can sell 10, make 5 or less."

No - just no. Sorry.

Probably sold out though, so is this actually a watch or some sort of NFT?

·

I loved this watch the moment I saw it. But when I saw the price I just lost all interest. It's not that I have an issue with Oris charging that price for one of their watches, but I just feel that beyond the enamel work, it's just a standard Aquis. No precious metal, no other flourishes with the case or design. You're really just paying for the enamel work, which I just don't feel is worth it. Better buy an AnOrdain instead! 😂

·

I just don't see Oris at this price point, lovely though it is. If I had that kind of money burning a hole in my pocket I would definitely be looking elsewhere.

Fully agree that if I just wanted enamel my money would be better spent at AnOrdain!

Now that you have mentioned NFTs, I see that this watch is better to buy than an actual NFT, at least your getting a physical piece of art.

Not if it’s sold out.

Oris is a nice watch brand but I ldont think that they have the reputation to command that type of money.

·

I appreciate the craftsmanship. It’s not a watch targeted to me or people like me, though.

At the end of the day, the market will decide. If they sell out and Oris makes a pile of cash, I’m glad for them. Or it could be like the Stormtrooper Edition Aquis and just sit around in AD cases forever. I’m guessing that they knew they had buyers before doing this, though.
