👍 I bet the book is great. I might just get it as well. Re RS I think he did a fair bit of study as well but with a pretty famous watch maker as apposed to study in a uni 😉

With mr smith, he was spurned on to become a watchmaker after a lecture by Daniels it’s quite a story that spans years approx 5 I think where he kept being rebuffed by mr George Daniels with his first pocket watch.
Eventually he mastered all the 32 skills reqd to make a pocket watch by the "Daniels method" this watch sold at auction this year for circa £4m
They formed a great friendship in fact when Daniels died he bequeathed his entire workshop to Smith.

I’m not holding my breath as I was not able to get on his list before he closed it but I am on file and he has sent me a few mails which was really nice. It will be interesting to see what he comes up with as the reason he closed his list was to give him space and time to think about his next goals…who knows!
