You’re a watch collector/nut would you be happy with this gift or not?
Ps you don’t own a Timex….. yet 😉
Please help me decide wether I get it or not

Perhaps it depends a bit on what the person likes in watches. But I’d said overall Timex and the Timex Q line is well loved, and that green dial is gorgeous. Personally I think you’ve picked out a stellar gift!
I would be very happy, Timex have a great history and last few years seem to be on the up, re-issues etc, and their dependable expedition watches. Just wish they would stop using brass in their more affordable watches.
Of course, it’s impossible for me to speculate on your SIL’s taste. If you know it well, then you’re good because that’s a nice watch. If you’re not sure, and if your culture and your relationship with SIL permit it, you can set it up so he can exchange the watch for one he’ll enjoy (and the two of you could go together and grab some lunch together if that’s your thing). The spirit in which the gift is being given is beautiful, as is the watch itself. Nice first Timex.

I'd be very pleased to be gifted that. I'm not a Timex lover but that's a really nice dial, colour, indices, font, period date window and all of it is well balanced. Nice.

That’s a good call, I did consider the marlin range but in the end it was the dial that sold the watch to me. He is an artist and colour/ hue would attract him to it I’m sure.

For a little more money, Seiko Cocktail time line of watches offers the best dials for the money.
It seems to be a good choice.
But if I were in your place, I would ask him what he wants in the budget.
His being an artist on top of being a watch nerd, I assume he has keen eyes on design and colours, and I’d rather have him select.

Ok, I'm a watch lover so Yes. What's the budget and what style of watch would be best? Does this guy love the water and outdoors? Like dress watches ? With a bit of info I can say yeck yes or maybe something different 🤔
I think it’s a beautiful pick and I would cherish any Watch that was gifted to me. When others would ask your name will always be credited as a follow up. Go for it!!!
