Any veterans out here?

As I look back on where I started vs where I am now, I have lost some friends along the way but gained so many more. This organization is a strange one. You spend years with people. A type guys, people who are trained to hunt, kill and destroy the enemy. You learn what makes them tick. You learn their favorite songs, colors, brand of beer or whiskey. You learn about their families and become part of the family yourself. Then, one day, it all seems to just end. Your time in service draws to an end and all you can think of are the good times. I miss my friends. The ones I lost will always be in my mind. The ones still alive are killing it in the civilian sector and the ones still in are kicking ass in far off places in this world. To them, I wish you the best of luck, boys. Keep your head on a swivel and come home in one piece.

This particular group of guys were the ones I was lucky enough to go to war with. Thankfully, everyone came home and we got to do some cool shit along the way. I have since left the NJ National Guard to go onto the Active Duty side of things, but this is the greatest job in the world, I’m convinced.

To us and those like us, damn few.

Also, I’m wearing a GW-9400 so this is a watch post! 🤣🤣

Great watch and a big thanks for those of us who aren't in the services 👍👍👍👍

It's amazing how close we can be to people, and then completely lose contact with them.

I have spoken to maybe three of the guys I went to Afghanistan with back in '07 over the last few years. Still, they are closer to me than most of my co-workers.

I rocked a Timex Atlantis to the war, I lost it over the years and postings, but I bought a new version.

I had lost my watch somewhere in Kuwait on my way to my first Iraq deployment. As soon as I got the chance to hit a PX I bought that exact watch. Had it the rest of my time in the Marine Corps then I finally killed it when I got out. I should get a new one. Cheers

We worked with some DEVGRU and other team guys as well as some Naval Intel guys doing their secret squirrel stuff. They were pretty cool, but there was always this feeling that the intel guys were better than everyone about them.

Thanks for your service brother, seriously!

We don’t have service members in our immediate family, but we have a business that supports the Marine Corp folks and their families (kiddos in particular) out in Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley.

Sending love man!!!

Active Navy over here.

I understand everything you just laid out in this post. It’s a whirlwind of a life - but I wouldn’t trade the friendships and experiences for the world.

Stay safe, brother. 🍻
