I REALLY want a Ming watch.

But I also hear about A LOT of movement and QC issues with them. Anyone own one? Anything you don’t like about it?

I've not heard anything. They currently have 3 models using 3 different movements. Which one is having issues?

I have one and love it. Will likely get another.

Have a blue 17.09. No issues or complaints whatsoever. I suppose if I were to nitpick, I wish it was a bit thinner (not that it's thick by any means at 10mm). Just think it'd look proportionally better if it were thinner.

The lume is very bad. I don't think I ever owned a watch with worse lume. I also don't think it's particularly accurate, I think mine runs between +10 and +30 seconds a day, but hard to say since there are no minute markers and no seconds hand. I assume that is why nobody bothered regulating.

But man, you have to specific. Those kinds of comments... what movement, what issues, quality control of which parts?

Most of the "problems" aren't really problems in my experience. They are just of a certain quality and not better. If you want a watch with better quality lume, you need to buy a watch with better lume. Same with more accurate movements. They have zero intention of being better, so there is no control. The only actual QC and movement issue I am aware is with the Massena Lab watches where the hour hand misaligned. That said, it was worse on the Ming but Ming also fixed it and released an explanation.

A Ming is, in some respects, not made to as high of a standard as some other watches that cost similar amounts of money. I imagine that a good amount of the funds goes onto their experiments regarding ultra light weight cases, patterns etched into sapphire and such.

Either way, if you want a watch that is of the highest possible quality with the least amount of issues you should probably have a look at a modern Rolex. It is what it is.

The 17.0 or whatever model it is. People rate saying they’re not particularly accurate and case finishing on some aren’t stellar.

That's interesting. I did a quick search and it looks like those watches have Sellita movements. I have no idea why they are having issues with those.
