Micro Brands

With today being Monday I thought the topic of Micro Brands could be in order. I'm running with "Micro-Brand Monday".

There's a lot of great micro brands out there and the one I'm wearing today by LIV Watches really peaked my interest around 12mths ago.

It comes in a 46mm Black IP 316L case, with a Valjoux 7750 movement running at +-5 seconds, screw down crown and 100m water resistance, sapphire crystal, BGW9 superluminova and a 5 year warranty.

It was my first foray into the world of micro brands and so far I haven't been disappointed. One of the great things I found with this brand was the customer service which is seriously off the charts. LIV HQ is in Miami, Florida and my order arrived down under within a week which I was extremely happy about.

I can honestly say I haven't run into anyone else wearing this watch so it also has a bit of an exclusivity factor, although I'm sure that will be a different story if you live stateside.

I think micro brands offer a lot of value and you can often get into a nice spec'd watch at a fraction of what you'd pay with the established brands. The obvious downside is you can't try on the watch before you buy, so you have to take a bit of a punt on them.

Would love to hear you thoughts on Micro brands, whether or not you have or would take the plunge on one and which brands are on your radar.

Happy collecting!

I met up with Tom from @Clemence_Watches on Friday and we talked about the value for money when buying micros and I’ll definitely be getting this one when it’s back out.

These are the ones I’ve currently got.

I think Microbrands are the perfect way to get started in watch collecting, and for some/many a great place to stay long-term.

I find that the value you can get regarding specs, and finishing is often times better than the direct competition from big brands.

Personally, my current favourite micro brands are CW (not really a micro these days), and Vaer.

You can’t go wrong with CW. I’m a big fan of the C60 Anthropocene GMT.

I am somewhat embarrassed to say I heartily agree ! I have 3 aquitanes, ( sealander 63) w/timer, I think I have gotten 9 watches from them in the past year they are far and away my favorite, what do you think of the new "Bell Canto"

I regret not buying one, I debated it too long.

CW is an amazing brand, I have 4 in my current collection.

Can't wait to see a wrist shot of your Saturn. I've got the light blue dial in the diver and really like it. Also goes really nice with the black/blue nato strap.

The P51 Ferocious Frankie is really cool. I don't mind the black and orange version too.
