Yesterday after work I picked up my fiancé from the station, she has no real interest in watches, but as I drove off it was one of the very rare times that she struck up a conversation about them...
Her: "Paul had a nice watch on today, I think it's one of the brands you like?"
Me: "Oh yeah, which?"
Her: "Omega?"
Me: "Yeah I love Omega, which model was it, what did it look like?"
Her: "I don't know which one, it was a nice one with a metal strap?"
Me: "Right..."
Her: "I said to him that I like that name, Omega, much as I love the look of the watch I got you it does have quite a feminine name compared to the others you mention."
Me: "Feminine? What's feminine about Tudor?"
Her: "Tudor? Oh I got that wrong, I've been telling the blokes you wear a Tulip!!!"😂😂😂

I found that a strap can devalue a watch by about 90% :-)
1k watch was valued at about 100 euros by my wife - because of 'that very cheap looking strap'

Anytime I get another G-Shock (which is what I collect) my wife always says, "it looks like every other one you have it's just black." Even though I don't have the same model twice.
It makes more sense when you understand men are attracted to tools and a watch as a tool and women are highly attracted to aesthetics because of their looks. The irony is funny though
In fairness I'm just as bad with clothes and other things too, I'm probably worse than she is in the amount and variations of things I obsess with!
