The handset isn't as eye-boggling as it might seem from the photos, close up.
It doesn't really move or shimmer--at normal wrist glance distance, it's subtle, but it does catch the light and slam-dunk solves the visibility problem of silver hands against a light background.
I seriously consider it an innovation.

That dial and handset are truly something special. Who needs lume with the presence of highly finished, multi-faceted, indices and hands, set against a circular brushed, matte-textured dial. Much like in photography, I feel like the capture and utilization of light, can make or break the design of a dial. IMHO, Grand Seiko, are the masters of this technique. TY for sharing this

My pleasure. And, I agree, and at that price, it's a very cool level of design. And not just the hands. It makes for a very nice dress or dress casual watch (a good leather strap would bring it in to differing crispness, too) and it has a bit of a story.
