In case anyone is interested the strap is an Uncle Seiko 19mm tropic strap - what is special about this strap is it is a short strap they make now across their tropic range 65 x 115mm.
Yeah will take to local watch shop tmr- should be simple fix - watch repairers probably done 100s of these in their sleep.
