Not bad.

Interesting. The hands and the super slim minute markers are a definite nod to some of Nivada's vintage divers. Those design elements are very similar to mine which is an "Antarctic Sea" I think, though not marked as such on the dial. Though the rest of the modern design is much more restrained than the 70s visual melee of green dial+faceted applied markers+very aged tritium lume.

This definitely ticks all the diver boxes for me. It's a nearly one-to-one copy of the vintage Antarctic Diver, which is not a bad thing as far as I am concerned. I really like everything that Nivada Grenchen is doing to honor their heritage, including this.

Same for me boxes all ticked but I also like the Vulcain Diver (comes in black and blue dial as well)

Decisions Decisions decisions - and then there is going to be a 36mm version of the Super Antarctic - arrrrgh Nivada what are you doing to me!

I completely understand your dilemma. That salmon dial is very appealing. I don't think there is a wrong choice between the two. Nivada Grenchen and Vulcain are two of my favorite micro-brands right now. Fun fact: Guillaume Laidet, who resurrected Nivada Grenchen and Excelsior Park, is a consultant for Vulcain.

Im leaning towards the Vulcain at the moment as I want to get the Nivada Chrono and I have a Nivada Super A as basically my explorer style watch.

Currently also wear a 37mm Aquastar Deepstar 2 in grey dial with BOR!.

Yup know about Laidet and Vulcain - he has been trying to get Universal Geneve too - current owners won't budge though!

Oh wow. The things he could/would do with Universal Geneve. Man, I hope that happens. It's good to meet another Nivada Grenchen fan here. Over the weekend I realized they recently offered limited editions of their chrono with a choice of red, blue and green bezels with either a black or white dial and different hand combinations. The green bezel and white dial combo looked amazing but unfortunately they're all sold out. Sigh...

And congrats on the Aquastar Deepstar 2. I love those!

there is 2 red bezel versions with one of them being the world timer/GMT bezel

In relation to UG the owners in Hong Kong won't sell - its shame back in the day it always seem to be UG vs Rolex competition with depending on who u asked UG being of higher status on some models compared to Rolex.

But the current owners have done nothing with the brand - the watches look ugly.

I've just checked the price. Seems high when you can buy a vintage Nivada diver and get it serviced for around half that. Unless you're proposing swimming with the watch in which case modern construction and water resistance would be a must.

I received my Antarctic Diver on beads of rice today. Early days obviously, but I can confirm it looks and feels great. I’ve also got the Super Antarctic (non 3-6-9 dial) on beads of rice also and the Diver is a step up in quality - bracelet has a milled twin trigger clasp unlike the Super, which was friction fit and pressed swing arm.

Clearly 70's inspired design there.
