I have been collecting watches for at least a decade. It is amazing how quickly things have changed in this timeframe. Like many here, I wish I would have done a few things differently like buying a Rolex Hulk when dealers could not move them. Oh well... Nobody predicted the market today.
I write a blog at https://watchhunter.org that is a personal record of my horological thoughts and adventures. I cover a lot of Victorinox Swiss Army watches there because nobody else was. I currently don't collect them as I have all the good ones. I store a library of Seiko catalogs for reference on the site too so please use it.
The weirdest watches that I collect are Seikos incredibly cool SLQ Sportura Kinetic Chronos made in the 2000s. They were made for racing but look like a sci-fi watch from a feature film or Japanese anime. I think they are as cool as anything made today... think crazy industrial design like an Urwerk... just Japanified.
Does anybody have a brass watch? I have a Raven Defender with a brass case(on top) and the color is significantly different than my other bronze watch...
As part of my 2022 resolution, I am branching out to meet new watch folks. That includes joining Watch Crunch. I was blown away by the videos on YouTu...
I used to buy more a few years ago, but then the prices were better, there were still bargains to find and i liked cheaper stuff. Now I got spoiled and a watch purchase takes more skin in the game…so I buy fewer watches but they are better. Quality over quantity usuallynwins.
Considering gold is so flashy, it is kind of a way to get a warm golden tone without attention. I would love the Tudor bronze... but have you seen the aftermarket prices on the boutique only BB 58?!
ha!! not technically. That was not designed to be brass-forward. The ones I am asking about were milled out of brass on purpose. But it is interesting to see the chromeless watch... Looks kinda cool

different situations determine if I want people seeing my watch. Amongst collectors that is a definite yes. We have things in common and are invested in the hobby. It’s a safe space. For service people, waiters, and salesmen… no. I would prefer they do not know what i am wearing. Ive Seen watch store employees damn near break their necks scoping the wrists of customers… sizing them up. A complete stranger in a bar looking at my watch screams security risk. I don’t want to be a target When I leave. Coworkers or bosses too… they tend to make a big deal out of wearing different watches…. And think either you are paid too much, don’t need a raise or are careless with money. Haha
