Watch Safari in Dubai

Hi guys

Went to Dubai on a business trip and manged to find time to visit various watch outlets to try stuff on. Thought some of you may be interested in what I got up to.

Omega 43mm wear better than I thought and was £4800 with discounts.

This wears very nice and is a dressy diver. Could have been mine for around £4900

One of my favorites from this lust. 40mm centre seconds. Available with 15% discount. The most comfortable on wrist and the rubber band was pure quality.

GP was pure quality. Fit and finish was excellent. Sits nicely on my 7 inch wrist. Better than what I expected. The SA offered 10% off but said if I buy now, she will speak to the manager for a better discount.

Love longines. 10% discount offered.

GS white gold. Sat awfully on the wrist. Hard pass.

Pleasantly surprised by the Bulgari watched. The 3 hander was nice and thin and felt great on the wrist. The rubber strap was extremely comfortable. Again, the AD very open to discussing discount.

39mm jumbo. Lovely watch, but I was a little underwhelmed. I thought the GP and Chopard were much better fit on my wrist and looked better.

I'm in love with this one. Again, healthy discount offered.

IWC Ceratanium. Nice watch. Always thought they were too big, but not too shabby.

Sunburst dial in titanium and the wave pattern in white gold. Not to my taste but lovely watches.

Zenith defy time & tide edition. I think it was ceramic but felt really light and almost plasticy, not in a good way imo.

Really liked this one. 43mm bathyscaphe in ceramic. Fit better than I expected as 43 sounded rather large. Surprised as it was 20% off plus the vat refund of almost 5% plus 1% cash back. Sign of the times I suppose.

Nice watch but personally found it rather dull.

The best watch I have ever tried on...

Absolutely blown away. Was available for sale. No discount but if I had the money, I could have walked out with this.

Side note: all the AD'S I visited were excellent and I was treated well. Rolex was the only one who had an attitude problem.

My eyes have been opened by trying on these superb watches and my desire to buy a rolex gmt has cooled a little.
