I’ve been interested in Weiss watches recently.

Lorier has been my favorite micribrand in quite some time. Lorenzo and Lauren are a husband and wife power team that have done awesome things in the watch world recently.

They are either a dying or retiring breed these days. It takes over $20.00 an hour to live and pay rent so spending hours on a movement are cost prohibitive. If you find someone to do it they are not in it for the money

+1, I just picked up my second Lorier, and the whole vintage spirit, modern construction thing they have going on is just fantastic. Highly recommend.

I love their watches BUT dislike the name 😢

I know you didn't say American only but given the example in your post I assumed. I recently did a wide search for an all American made watch, and several are trying to move towards all American made but it is almost impossible. I think the closest are RGM which was the first American company to make an in-house movement in over 40 years but they are not cheap. Weiss is a great company, but he is still forced to source some of his movement parts from overseas.

If you want more affordable than those two companies Lum Tec is a small watch company run by Chris Weigand, he is just outside of Cleveland OH and he makes really solid military / Outdoor watches with amazing Lume and incredible design. They don't get lumped into these lists enough but they range in the $500 mark.

Here are some others that are U.S. based although they have to source a lot of their parts and may not fit "affordable".

Oak & Oscar (Chicago)

Vortic Watches

Shinola (Detroit)

Kobold Watch Co.

Nodus (L.A.)

J.N. Shapiro (L.A.)

Resco (Coronado CA)

MK II (PA)

Detroit Watch Company

We need to pull our resources and start our own company!! 🙂
