Can someone educate me on this weird phenomenon ?

Hey crunchers ,forgive my ingorance , my BM is doing this weird thing where the sweep now jumps in very precise 4 seconds increments 😅. Is it just my quartz running on fumes or should I look into servicing this ? Maybe it’s a kmow thing but i’ve never heard of it . ( aplogies for the pointless pics but I can’t seem to be able to post videos .

How long since the battery was new? I'm not familiar with this watch but IIRC from what I've heard in videos, etc. some of the finer quartz movements will do something like this when the battery needs to be replaced. Maybe someone else will have a real answer, lol!

You’re right. some manufacturers call it an end of battery life indicator- the second hand jumps every 4-5 seconds. Change that sucker

·

FYI, that is the End Of Life (EOL) battery indicator that B&M includes in most of their Quartz watches with a central seconds hand. According to their Q&A, approximately two weeks before the battery will stop, the central seconds hand will begin to jump every four seconds, signaling that the battery must be changed.

Great looking watch, yes it's the low battery indicator.

thank you ! 🙏 feel lazy now for not doing the research . The 4 seconds thing still bugs me . is it just a matter of the available amplitude that they built this specific gap/jump ? thanks again !

It's because it's VERY obvious that something isn't right to get you to investigate & fix it.

I gifted my brother a quartz Tissot and just last week he asked me the same. Battery is due for replacement

·

This is the watch's way of telling you your battery needs replacement. This is quite standard in premium quartz watches. Just replace the battery, all will be well.

·

Low battery indicator:) well said by many

·

Can you educate us on the reference number ? Beautiful watch

The EOL indicator.

It’s basically the Power Reserve Indicator in the form of a slow ticking seconds hand.

Change the battery and you’re like new again

·

He’s asking for a battery replacement

·

Yep, needs new battery
