Have you ever reconsidered selling your watch right after posting the ad?

Looking at my watch box, I've realized that I haven't worn my Longines Master Collection Chronograph Moonphase for over a year. It's not that I don't like this watch - quite the contrary. However, I'm not the type to switch watches daily; I prefer to wear each one for at least a couple of days. Why is that a problem for this watch? I sleep with my watch on; I can't fall asleep without a watch on my wrist. And when I wake up in the middle of the night and want to check the time - I can't, since there is no lume 😅 I know, it's a dress watch, and yes, this is a very specific problem, but it is what it is. That's why I subconsciously stopped picking it up from the box. So, I thought it might be time to finally sell something from my collection (which my girlfriend likes to jokingly remind me of from time to time).

But, as soon as I took the photos of the watch and posted the ad, I put the watch on my wrist and remembered why I got it in the first place. It's unlike any watch I have in my collection (which mainly consists of divers), and I feel like a gentleman every time I wear it. Plus, upon hearing that I wanted to sell it, my girlfriend was the first person to tell me not to sell it since it's "the most beautiful watch I have." So, I put a new strap on it and decided that it stays in the collection... For now 😄

I've felt that way for every watch I have sold in the last couple of months, 4 to be precise. I think we just got to remember why we are selling and just be a bit cut throat about it. If we waiver, we won't be able to reduce the collection or buy new ones 😜

I get what you are saying. In my case, I don't need the money from selling it, nor do I have plans to get a new watch. So, that's the main reason why I backed out of selling it 😄

I've only sold a Rolex OP and a pre-moon Speedy. The Rolex I couldn't get rid of fast enough, no regrets. The Speedy sat unused for a year as I'd got bored of seeing it everyday online. I wasn't that bothered about selling it but a near perfect one came up on eBay a couple of months ago and I toyed with buying it (cheaper than the one I sold), but I resisted, knowing it would also just sit in a box.

I also have this Longines, and it's a pretty watch, unlikely to ever be sold on. If you're not wearing it because of overnight, swap it out at night for whatever you're going to wear the next day.

MANY times! I’ve pulled them off platforms several times.

A few times, I listed, regretted, unposted, wore a couple days, then relisted and sold. Since then, I have made a habit of taking pics, boxing up, drafting the listings then letting the ready to ship boxes sit in my closet for a week or two before posting. Haven’t had sellers remorse since.

Keep it.. you could get an alarm clock that is readable in the dark. Or wear another one just during the night

Its always directly after posting a watch for sale that I remember the army of chancers I will have to fight through before I get a serious offer.

I don't like the idea of selling any of my watches, especially my builds, it'd be like selling a part of me. I have given a couple away as gifts to friends.
