Insane watch for value, 2+ years experience

This seagull completely changed my mind about Chinese watches.

Until very recently, this and the steinhart diver (I posted about earlier) was my whole collection. I bought it to celebrate my research getting recognition in a big conference for the first time.

Like any academic, I wasnt willing to spend much and I still wanted a mechanical watch with exhibition caseback and sapphire crystals. This had all of them, and some more.

Mechanical flywheel, wandering victoriacross sector seconds, double retrograde day and date, mirror polished steel case and even a decently decorated in-house movement, all for like 200 euros back in 2021.

I had very low expectations, but this watch totally floored me. Funnily enough, for the first few months, I didn’t wear it at all because of how crappy the band was. It was not until my girlfriend (now my fiancee) convinced me to go to a fossil shop nearby and get a new band on. Oh my god, what a difference a band makes. Since then, I couldn’t stop wearing at all.

It’s also a beast. Not only has it taken several knocks into tables and doors to the face like a champ, I legit went into arcades and got into the leaderboards of the boxing game (where you try to punch as hard as you can) while wearing this. I was so engrossed, I forgot to take it off.

I honestly cannot believe seagull is making dress watches you can go boxing with. I have been wearing it for almost 3 years now and I still get amazed at how ridiculously happy I feel about this purchase. Worth every single cent!

Thank you seagull for making such an amazing watch at such an incredible price. You really changed my stigma about chinese quality. Sorry for doubting you.

They are tough movements I have several seagul movements. 50% of them from the factory are less than 12sec off per day.

Lovely watch.

Slowly but surely Sea-gull is getting the recognition it deserves.

I have a limited edition 1963 and have many lovely straps for it.

There is definitively a certain satisfaction in owning a watch with great specs, history and at an affordable price.

That’s amazing. To me accuracy on mechanical watches doesn’t matter so much. I dont worry too much about them but from what I understand, 12 spd is not bad right?

It’s really good considering other brands such as Nodus promote their regulated NH35 being at or under 10sec/day. That regulation cost is certainly built into their much higher priced watches (compared to Seagul).

I did not know that. Damn. Thanks for letting me know. 😦🫡
