Quartz 3 Watch Collection

3 watch Collection thread? Another one?

This time they must ALL be battery operated quartz. No solar, No Eco Drive, no spring drive etc. No restriction on price.

What would you go for?

From my collection I'd have one dress, one chrono (not sure which), one complication:

2. Seiko Flighty

3. Vintage Seiko Flighty

From my collection.

The Good Tier that is the Casio Marlin. Always a strap monster. My Cooper Submaster, and finally my Festina Chronograph dating back to the early 90's.

I think I would go with:

Grand Seiko SBGP005. Can do dress but also smart everyday

Marathon TSAR. Scratches both my military and dive itches, and would get tritium back into my life

Bulova Lunar Pilot, but swap mine out for the new smaller case Snoopy. Chrono/add colour/ no date!

Nice choice Grand Seiko! For some reason, I never think sporty when I think GS

·

I think I’ll go:

Longines VHP in 36mm

Marathon MSAR 36mm

Citizen chrinomaster

As an avid lover and collector of quartz watches this is tough for me, but I think these would be the three that I'd choose. All vintage. All from my collection.

Seiko 7A38-7290

Seiko 0634-5000

Seiko 0843-8029

I love the grab-and-go nature of a decent quartz piece! So if I could only have 3:

#1 Seiko SNA411/413 Flighty (especially the rare 413 white/blue dial! drooool!)

#2 Casio EFV100/110D (nice "Aqua Terra" vibes! that you can dress up or down)

#3 Marathon MSAR 36mm (tres bon! and it's from Kanuckistan! Happy Canada Day!)

This is literally my collection. The small one for the desk. Chronograph for looks/dress. G shock for anything active or wet. I do also want a forth "do everything" titanium watch but I've not found one I love yet.

-------

For everyone saying Flighty. It's a beautiful watch but there's a very common issue where the pusher locks destroy themselves. Lots of people in this forum and there's a bunch on eBay and in other forms. And they are a massive pain in the ass to use even before that. They don't stay locked or unlocked and move randomly during the day.

Image

Comfort was also poor. It's really top heavy and has a raised bottom that creates a pressure spot. And dial visibility outdoors is really not good sometimes.

Luckily I found a guy who wanted mine at a big discount and he didn't care about the comfort or the broken pusher.

There's many other pilot's watches that will be more durable and comfy.

Honestly you're not wrong. Great value for the 25 bucks.

You got Eco Drive and Tough Solar in there! Sorry, not allowed for this three watch collection, must be battery only 😁

Trust me they have a battery. 😅

And yeah I anyways prefer no solar but it's really common nowadays and some of the best watches have it.

I also like the look of these. No solar. They are really good but the comfort would drive me nuts. They aren't on the same level as the GBD200.

I've always wondered about battery life of Precisionists with a constantly sweeping second hand? A few years back, I accidentally left the chrono running on my Lunar Pilot, which killed the battery quite quickly.
