Opinions? Kurono Chronograph 3 Hisui

I'm not in microbrands, but this one intrigues me since this Japanese watchmaker (クロノ or Kurono) has its only showroom in Tokyo, a few miles from where I live.

Kurono is a microbrand founded by Hajime Asaoka (http://hajimeasaoka.com/) that produced only a few limited series.

This particular chrono, Hisui (jade), mounts an automatic Seiko SE86 movement and will go on sale on November 21st for USD 3460 + VAT. Details at https://kuronotokyo.com/pages/chronograph-3

I can’t afford it alas, but I think it’s a cracking watch. They got it right, I love the colour and sub dials. It is also great that the people lucky enough to get one will have a very rare watch. Off to check the website.

It’s a beautiful watch!

·

Absolutely stunning! 👍

I love Kurono watches! This one is out of range for me too right now. But this Toki might be possible on the preowned market. I love that such a high horology maker is building a (relatively) more accessible watch.

I am intrigued by this brand. I don't think I am at the point of buying one, but I am definitely turning into a lurker.

Big kurono fan. I have his GMT 1 and had the chronograph 1 mk 2 in salmon before. Love the urushi dials and the toki.

His retro styling is awesome.

·

I think it looks killer. It's pricey but that would go for any automatic chronograph pretty much!

Outstanding design unfortunately in my opinion because it’s a Seiko movement I personally would not spend 3500 dollars 💵 on it. Maybe I would if it had a spring drive Movement!!

I had posted about this the moment I saw it. After sleeping on it I’ve decided to pass. The price is way to high. I could get a used spring drive Grand Seiko under $3.5k. Also this watch is THICK. As some people have said, it’s like a hockey puck.

Don’t get me wrong… I’m still watching everything this brand is releasing. This just isn’t the one for me.

That's my doubt as well. I suppose given the watchmaker wants to keep all watch made in Japan, he did not have many choice of movements availble to third parties (I don't think Seiko provides the Spring Drive to third parties).
