Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Beyond one or two watches, I've never had a collection. The first watches that I started collecting were HMTs. This was part because I was traveling to India and had started researching Indian watches and partly because I needed inexpensive watches to practice watchmaking. So, collecting a kind of watch with a fairly inexpensive price point, watch making and the idea that I could lean about watches by taking them apart is really what pushed me into buying a number of HMT and Titan watches. Some were vintage, and some relatively new old stock . Vintage HMTs are small and I find some interest in other watch brands that I've know a little about already but deep dives into the history of Seiko watches. Eventually I knew that I wanted to have at least a single example of 1 Lord Marvel, 1 Lord Matic, 1 King Seiko and 1 Grand Seiko. Each from the really 70s. This and the handful of HMTs started the initial collection that had since grown a few watches here and there each month. I've resold a few that I didn't want to keep and put that money into a few O did want for the collection and to observe and work on with leads me to my current state of the watch collection. Nor I'm hooked from threa angles of watch enthusiasm. Pocket watches, vintage watches and new watches each serve Reason that I obtain new watches and together have all contributed to the reason I have more than just my everyday Tudor Black Bay that kicked off everything. Hot me interested in all kinds of watches and making it part of editing new things as I travel and visit new cities with new ideas. I'm in deep, and there are far too many reasons why watches build up in my collection and every aspect of it is exciting.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

My first watches. In the 1980s as a child I received a Casio black resin LCD and a Swatch. A 1990s I purchased my first dress watch, a Bulova. I don't have it remember the model numbers specifically but these are the first taste of obtaining and wearing watches and I never thought about collecting. These watches were necessities as a young man just growing up in the 80s and 90s.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Find a few inexpensive watches that you want to wear and serve a specific purpose. Learn everything you can about a few watches before pulling the trigger and biting your fist few watches. Compare prices and buy things that you love and like and want to wea. Dip your toes in slowly and put time between each purpose. Enough time experience wearing each watch and having something for dress, traveling, rugged activities before getting into anything even remotely expensive.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Christopher Ward, Seikos of all kinds, Tudor and Indian watch brands like HMT and Titan. I've tried to really learn a lot about these brands and how I can find a watch that satisfies my need for new sporty and dress watches, vintage dress watches and inexpensive but fun watches that are nostalgic to Indian collectors. Great value for money, quality and quirky. These few brands let me explore all of that.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Rolex Perpetual 1908. I really love vintage dress watches and have few Rolexes that I would like to own. This watch is the perfect mix between new, vintage looking, high quality fit and finish and something I can pass down that hold value.
