Intro!

Hello! I've just purchased my 7th watch (Blue + White Casioak) so I assume that I've crossed some kind of line into watch nerd-dom!? I'm a 3D designer based in Sydney Australia and was introduced to watch collecting by the watch channels on youtube that I have on in the background whilst I work on the puter.  I have grown to enjoy following this gentle hobby over the past year or so, mostly been collecting Casios, with a Timex and a chunky oddity branded 'MF' (not sure what that stands for lol) thrown in, and loving it. Cheers, Tim

Welcome to WC!  I'll let you in on a little secret...it was the second watch.  That's when you crossed over into madness.  First, it's one of these...

...next thing you know, you're explaining to your wife why the kids don't need to go to college while wearing one of these

I myself am a chunky oddity often branded MF!

That motorcycle atop your profile is very cool.

Welcome to WC. Certain that someone with your skills brings an eye to watch collecting that will make it fun to see your choices!

Thanks for that - yep I've had the opportunity to do a few bike designs, that one was the V-Rex, it started as 3D render and ended up getting built in limited numbers before financial crisis smashed the market.

Recently, I have actually started putting some designs together for watches, I've 3D printed a prototype of one, and I'm hoping to share them here at some point - appreciate the welcome!

best, Tim

Hey Tim, welcome. Great to have you here. I’m also a designer, but I’m a graphic  designer not 3D. I’m really drawn to all the various possibilities of watch design. I never thought of it appealing to 3D designers but that makes total sense. Glad to have another designer / watch nerd here. 😁

Oops - missed this one - thanks Eric! - yes I love seeing new designs appearing even after thousands and thousands of designs are already in the world - watches are like chairs I think - just when you think you've seen every possible form of 'object designed to keep my arse off the floor' you'll see a new idea :-). With my 3D experience I have the chance of being able to 3D print out resin versions of my ideas just to see how they look and work (or not) - it is miraculous tech and so cheap now. I ran out one on the weekend - it looked great on screen but hmmm welll.. not sure the world's ready for it! cheers, Tim
