Nodus --> Lorier (NWA)

A couple months ago, I was super pumped about my new Nodus Sector GMT. Such a cool watch and sort of killed two birds with one stone, GMT + Sector Dial... Well, 2.5 months later and I just sold/shipped the Nodus. I found myself wearing it less and less, mostly because of size/weight (I have nothing but positive things to say about the watch and the company)... And yesterday, this sweet little watch arrived. It's amazing, but you know what's funny? I think the Nodus is a "better" watch. The Lorier is beautiful, wears great and the design is basically perfect... but it felt a little cheap compared to the Nodus, the (Astra) bracelet isn't as nice and the movement is much louder... but even with all that being said, it's more in line with what I'm looking for from a design and wearability standpoint. Have you sold a "better" watch for something "inferior?" I've seen a lot of Astra posts these last couple weeks, so I'm curious if any of you agree and how you're feeling about it... and to be clear, I LOVE the Astra.

Both are great and each has their qualities. Personally I would find it difficult to let the Nodus go, but if you don't totally gel with a watch, you have to make a decision. I have sold rarely and always regretted it later, but that might just be me.

I hear that… I’ve sold a bunch and haven’t regretted yet, especially as I get a better feel for what I like and will wear… I’m also trying to stick to 8-10 watches, plus I’m not ruling out another Nodus in my future.

I met up with the cofounder of Nodus last week and came to the same conclusion about the Sector. Their new Contrail III is a different story. The thing that sucks is it's a ways from hitting the market and I'm way down on the list.

Though I just started to look at their Hyperion. It looks like it will sit on my wrist in a way I like. The color scheme isn't my favorite, so I'm still chewing on it.

Every Nodus I’ve ever handled has felt like a better made watch compared to the Loriers I’ve handled. Not a knock on Lorier as they are fine watches, but more to say that Nodus is clearly giving you more for your money.

Also, I’ve sold many “better” watches to downgrade. Just because a watch is nicely made doesn’t mean you’ll like it more. Watches are very emotional objects for us.

Does the Astra come on that jubilee style bracelet, or did you swap it out? I was under the impression that the bracelet looked a lot different.

I love both brands, and multiple models from each. Thank you for sharing

You’re right… I swapped in my Uncle bracelet, feels a little better.

Ehh, a little. But not as crazy as the hair pulling of the original bracelet.

I have a nice black bay 58 and I wear my 100.00 Relax more because it just makes me laugh...

I love both brands, but Lorier just has style!

They’re both awesome brands, for sure… but yeah, their style/aesthetic is 👌🏼

Yes. I sold a Seiko Prospex Land US special edition to buy a Seiko 5 GMT.
