To elaborate, we are referring to accessories provided by the manufacturer and sold with the watch. For example, the watch being presented with a travel case/watch roll. Would you purchase a watch because of the extras it comes with?
They might be a tipping point in a decision but usually I'd prefer to just literally spare the expense. I have no use for watch cases or rolls or more spring bar tools.
I definitely believe in a pleasant purchasing experience, which can certainly include accessories/presentation. BUT…it’s not free, as the brand will definitely be passing some of those expenses on to the consumers.
I think unless you’re purchasing from a brick and mortar store, I’d rather brands forgo those costs and put that towards improving the watch itself, customer service, shipping logistics, or post-sale service.

Interesting perspective, I agree brands will certainly have to pass those costs at some stage. As a retailer, we are exploring offering complementary accessories (watch case, watch cloth etc) with every purchase. Will have to do a poll at a later stage to see what people value!
Watch is the thing you’re buying, and ought to be the ultimate factor. Watch rolls, etc, are nice. But, I’d rather buy a watch I’m 100% on and pick up whatever accessories I might want later.
I won't buy a watch if it's OTT - for example excessive packaging or extra straps -really dislike that, I don't wear leather (veggie since 1982) & rarely wear anything other than a NATO, & then only ones with sewn in buckle, not the lookalikes with springbars holding in the buckle (a pet hate of mine).

I always make sure I walk away with something along with my watch purchase 🤓

Yeah, it isn't free. A $100 box on a $500 watch means you are getting a $400 watch for $500. You definitely pay for those accessories.
