Speedmaster question

Speedmaster 3861 Owners: How many winds do you do on your watch in the morning? I feel like I keep running out of power before 24 hours but I know it has a 50 hour power reserve.

When I owned the 3861, it would take something like 60 or 70 rotations of the crown to hit the stop point.  Once it stops winding, it STOPS winding - that will provide 50-hour PR.

Thanks SO much for that! So it is perfectly fine to wind to STOP, right?

Sound like you need a new Main spring. Sending the watch to Omega can take months to get fixed and back 😕

Yes! You can’t go past the stop.

I have a 321 which is essentially the same and I wind it all the way up about 25-30 cranks to the stop.

·

I always back off when the tension is gets strong, but I rarely wear it for a continuous period long enough to deplete the reserve. Winding and setting is part of the morning ritual with whatever watch I'm wearing I suppose.

·

If it has stopped completely, it takes about 80 turns of the crown until I feel the resistance that tells me it's fully wound.  If I wind it fully, I get around 60-65 hours of power reserve, considerably higher than the advertised 50 hours.

·

I wear mine almost daily. So for me it’s about 30 cranks each morning.

Tbh I haven’t counted but the answer is, a lot.  as noted above, wind until it stops and not past

·

On my 3861 it stops around 60 turns from zero and usually lasts for two days or so.

I have a 3861 and agree with the others, I wind it from zero power to stop and it runs well over 24 hours.

I do have a problem winding it though - perhaps I’m nitpicking but I find it difficult to wind because there isn’t much crown to hold on to. It’s a shame because I was looking forward to the whole “morning ritual” but honestly I find it a chore.

Same. The crown drives me nuts that it’s so hard to get a grip of. A tiny redesign would fix that, but it’ll never happen.

Wind it daily until it stops, roughly about 30 to 40 winds.

Yes I agree! I like the morning ritual...but the crown is definitely hard to get a hold of properly. I do wish it had a bigger crown but, you're right, they'll never change that.
