My new grail - Blue Dial Alpinist GMT

I’m giving up on Rolex. My grail was an Explorer. I’m over it. I feel like this is better, more functional watch with more value by far. Am I crazy for comparing them?

Its both beautiful and a functional watch

Nice GMT but the inner compass ring is out of place and confusing.

Not sure what the thought process was in this choice of deign.

It is a great looking watch. So is the Sealander GMT. I'm not a Rolex fanboy, but if something is your grail you don't have to give up. Sometimes you just have to be patient and recognize opportunities. Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy choice.

The Explorer is an excellent watch and the Alpinist GMT is also a nice watch. Can’t really compare them—both can exist in the same collection 🍻

They are not comparable. One is a desk GMT (Seiko) and one is a travelling GMT (Rolex) so your not just switching watches but selecting a different movement function. A comparable watch would be. Grand Seiko or a Longines etc. they have the same functionality as the Rolex.

Look, they are both amazing watches in their respective budgets. One is a solid watch that works well with some weaknesses here and there but unavoidable condiering the price of the watch. The other is a serious watch, that is ultimately reliable, accurate and has tonnes of brand equity on top. Again, I must reiterate that both are superb watches and its not just about price. People prefer things for a variety of reasons.
