You are asking me to choose only one of these as the best? Hard choice! I will give four answers, because I cannot choose just one.
For a great budget Casio that is tough, I would have to go with the DW291. 200m water resistance, tough, durable case, and an aesthetic reminiscent of the World Time, all for approximately $30.
Pro Trek PRW2500. Great camping and outdoor watch with plenty of functions; I counted 24 or 25 different functions on this one. A bit pricier at $200 from Walmart, but definitely worth it.
G Shock GAB2100. For something with an analog dial yet retaining all the rugged durability and functionality of other G Shocks. Great value at $150 on Amazon.
Finally, my trusty GWM5610, which has the additional benefit of looking like the original G Shock while including solar power and Multi Band 6. A bargain for less than $100 if you shop around.
I couldn't choose just one. Sorry. 😁
I know, I know. I could give reasons for several more being the best. 🤣

What a collection! And some great choices too. I love my 5610 (and my 5600 too).
I haven’t added a Casioak to my collection yet, but I intend to.
Lots of similar watches in my collection as you. What’s the 4th from left on the middle row? That’s a new one on me.
Ah the W218, what a great choice. I have one of these in my collection and it’s pretty battle scarred at this point. Great watch.
Yes sir! When I purchased it I figured I’d immediately have to swap out the straps because I didn’t think the plastic ones would be comfortable at all. To my surprise not only were they not awful, they were actually pretty good!

Yeah, the OEM strap is really good, considering the price. I since switched it for a NATO strap, which I really prefer.
I have a few Casios and I'll vote for the F91-W even though I have never owned one and maybe never will.
Aided by economies of scale Casio makes dependable timekeeping accessible to a large proportion of the world's population. Heck, I imagine in some parts of the world something like a F91-W could be a status symbol as much as anything else. That is a market segment most western watch companies would turn their noses up at.
I’ve never understood how those ones work. I assume it’s the time of day vs sun rise/set vs the best time, algorithmically, to fish?
uses the time, date, and moon data (moon age and moon phase) to determine a suitability score between levels one through five, represented by fish icons
but in reality it means little, I was being slightly tongue in cheek. There is a Hodinkee review of this watch that savages it, but it’s a €30, it’s not going to help you fish at all. I think it’s a hilarious. Considering I spend all day at my desk designing deep geotechnical structures, and then I can look at the watch and pretend I could sod off at lunchtime to the lake next door and just spear fish carp with pieces of spare rebar I duct tape together in the workshop.
Any love from fellow 80's and 90's kids for the venerable but largely forgotten flip-top? I had one of these when I was a kid and thought it was the coolest thing EVER!
Sadly I never see people mentioning these, presumably because surviving examples are now either obscenely expensive or completely knackered (trust me, I've searched)!

Jeez, I completely forgot about those! A friend of mine in school had one and I was always jealous.
Casio Oceanus OCW-T2600. Why is this the best Casio? (1) Solar powered, (2) light weight titanium case and bracelet with simple and easy micro-adjust, (3) amazing anti-reflective coating that causes the glass to disappear, even in photos, (4) gorgeous dial, (5) displays 2 time zones, (6) multi-band time sync, (7) perpetual calendar, (8) chronograph, (9) excellent lume.
I’m a collector of affordable watches with a particular penchant for Casios. Yes, I wear my watches on the “wrong” hand. That’s because I’m left handed. 👍

That’s what I initially planned on doing as well. Like you, I’ll hold off until signs of wear begin, then go to a NATO.

This one? This is the AE30W. I believe it came out in 1989.
That is VERY cool!
I had a number of Casio watches in my life, from a F-91W, through some ana-digi and several G-Shock. None of them failed me and they were all great.
