Selling Modded Watches and Microbrand Watches

I've been looking at my watch boxes and counting the days/weeks/months it's been since I wore a few. Conclusion, I really only rotate between 3 or 4 watches. The rest get wrist time only when I feel guilty about not wearing them.

Long story short, I'm looking to do a huge purge in the easiest way possible. Many of my watches are watch mods, some I'm proud of some less proud, and there are a few Micros Brands in the mix that I'm looking to re-home.

I'm not really looking to make money but there was some investment there so don't just want to give them away. Basically, I expect a net financial loss but want to make it a slightly less bitter pill to swallow.

I have been thinking of offering one to someone here who loves watches but lacks financial means at this time (i.e. student or just down on their luck). I'm still consider the logistics on how best to do that in a fair way and in a way that I don't look like I'm up to something shady.

As for selling the rest I'm looking suggestions. I've done eBay in the past and was thinking I'd just go that route but figured I'd ask to see if there was a better route. I've even considered setting up a temporary Etsy Store. Anyone else sell on Etsy?

Input appreciated.

Great idea.

I've had luck selling on reddit and some luck on Facebook.   Lately things have been hard to move and I've been mostly offers for trade.

Do you mod for others. I was looking for someone to mod some of my watches. Hoping it might give life to some I don’t wear and scratch the itch that we all have in wanting something new. Maybe even save some money.

i total get your comment about financial means. I wouldn’t say I was on the breadline but as a foster parent with 4 teenage boys to look after the money I do have watch buying isn’t priority, and I’m sure most have the same daily issues

Could you not just post your watches on here via a link? You would immediately have a big pool of potential purchasers?

Or does that break rules or protocols for watchcrunch? I have no idea but if it was allowed it would make sense?

Typically I've only modded for myself, a few relatives, and once for a charity auction. I've thought of setting up a mod shop but there are a quite few already doing the job just as well as I could, if not better. Plus my career at this time doesn't allow the time for a side hustle.

If your looking for a good reasonable priced modder I'd point you at Watchmods.ca. Scott did a mod for me before I got into it myself and did a great job at a fair price. He even water pressure tests them, something I can't do at the moment.

I totally understand the watch investment limitations.  I got into modding to scratch the buying itch then found out modding costs more money than I thought it would lol.

Interesting issue. I have this with watches and a diecast car collection. In both cases I got lucky with individual item Ebay sales, where I basically said in the listing and in comms with winning bidders something like "I am looking to downsize my collection over the next few months. If you are interested in watches like this let me know." I have a buyer who bought 12 of my die-casts after winning bidding on one, and another buyer who has taken 7 of my watches.

Yes I probably could have got more money selling individually and letting the market find the value, but I was just happy they went to a good new home.

Also Ebay were really useless when I sold something that got delayed in the post, issued a refund and I could prove that the Buyer received the item, so I have gone off Ebay for a bit.

Good luck with the Etsy shop - be interested to hear how to get on.

Yeah I assumed Watch Crunch isn’t a sales site but never looked into it.

I got so the only shipping option I allow includes tracking which of course makes the price seem higher.
