How Do You Feel About Mod Watches?

Morning fellow Crunchers! Hope that you survived the weekend and that nasty hangover is done and over with๐Ÿ˜‚ Anyway, I have been looking at some modded Seikos like the one pictured here:

Do you have one like this or similar? Pros? Cons? Do you have a seller that you can recommend?

Have a safe and great week out there!๐Ÿ˜Ž

I do like modified watches, it is nice to make something yours and unique. What I do have a problem with is buying a bunch of random parts from China and slapping a Seiko branded dial (also from China) on the result. "SKX mods" that had an SKX to start with, no problems, go crazy. Or what we are perhaps looking at here is a "5KX" mod.

I am a fan! @Ichibunz is my go to and he has built lots of watches for Crunchers using Seiko movements. I have another one from him on the way!

Confusing, but basically modded cars arenโ€™t that big an issue. So customizing your watch as long as you enjoy it and like it should be alright. Problem is only when people think maybe of retaining value or value of a modded piece which will almost always go towards the negative

I like mod watches if it's done to a cheap and cheerful watch. You are not really "ruining" it or significantly decreasing it's value like you would by swapping parts on a Rolex ect.

I also bought an eBay bezel for my Duro because I liked the looks of it. I honestly did not know it was a Planet Ocean style bezel & now I can't unsee it....

I still think it looks good but it wasn't my intention to try to look like an Omega either. Now I have a PO Duro

I choose the characteristics on my mod watches, and so of course choose what I like , with the exceptions being the mods that didnโ€™t turn out as good as I thought they might ๐Ÿ˜‚. Choosing components to assemble gives me a very different perspective, which I think is less influenced by brand and marketing. I focus attention more now on movement types and manufacturers, case, dial and lume.
