commented on Most people settle for a Tudor because they can't afford a Rolex. ·

Oh, and another comment I want to make on this thread: around the world many people are suffering the effects of inflation and many many people think that Rolex owners are rich jerks, and if they wear their watch outside their house, they do so to show-off (ridiculous of course, because where else would you wear it). The point being, Tudors are not cheap watches, and it is highly arrogant for someone to say Tudors are a poor man's Rolex when literally 99% of the world can't afford a Tudor - it's an elitist statement.

Out of all my 50+ watch acquisitions, I've only had to do this with Seikos (open it up to adjust on the timegrapher) - Seikos frequently have poor beat error. I have finally given up on Seiko because they just don't compare with all the micro-brands out there, despite the fact that Seiko is the 2nd highest number I own.

On the other hand, I really am impressed with the Miyota 9xxx series of movements, and have found them all with 0 beat error and around +2 to +5s per day accuracy.

There are 2 issues with these GS watches:

  1. The bracelet finish quality doesn't match the case

  2. The bracelet has no micro-adjust. I sold all my IWCs and never went back because the lack of micro-adjust and the imperfect fit on my wrist finally got to me enough for me to abandon my (at the time) favorite brand. I'm not going to make the same mistake with GS.

commented on Rolex secondary market prices are dropping, do you care? ·

I find it interesting how the secondary market prices follow the principles of stock-market technical analysis. The price went parabolic, which is of course meant that the market was over-bought which always leads to the bubble breaking and a period of market correction.

Such an arrogant opinion, and it really shows the worth of someone's character who has this opinion (I realize the OP might just be prompting conversation, not necessarily having this opinion). That opinion could be about anything, for example "people who buy vintage Mustangs can't afford Lamborghinis" - there are plenty of wealthy people who are just attracted to Mustangs.

For me, I have both Rolex and Tudor, and I enjoy wearing the Tudors more because Rolex has attracted a social/cultural label, like it or not, and sometimes I just want to enjoy my watch without the baggage. If I was influenced by people who think that people only wear Tudor because they can't afford Rolex, then I'd be wearing my Rolexes more and boy - if I did that, how pathetic would I feel.
