Citizen Tsuyosa Review

Finally got the call. Literally. I walked into the store and one of the first sentences my AD said to me was "you are lucky, they are selling like hotcakes". This was the second time I had the watch in my hands. First time was one with black dial. And now I had to choose between yellow and green.

Image

Since the watch came out I always wanted green dial, because it is my favorite colour. I was 100% decided it is going to be green, until I saw it in person. I am not a big fan of sunburst effect. So that was a "no" for the green dial. YES, yellow dial has the same effect but being much lighter colour sunburst in not that notable like on other variants. And with summer just around a corner yellow dial was a no brainer.

I am enjoying this watch and compliments are coming from left, right, front and back. We wear what we like and more or less do not care if somebody does not like it, but I have to say I remember every compliment for years and it feels good when I get some. Watch is a people pleaser and who does not like some colour in their life?

Of course I am still in honeymoon phase with it and been neglecting other watches. I have to be honest. Yeah, I love it. Is it all golden and flowery? No. The main issue was that for the first two nights movement lost +5 minutes per night. Lady in the store said that can happen with new watches (first time hearing that, but maybe she knows something I/we do not). But now it is okay. Problem resolved it self. Thank God.

Loking through exhibition case we don't see anything special. I dare say for a watch lover its boring and dissapointing. At the same price you can get better looking and more reliable movement form Seiko. But at the same time, for someone who is just getting into our hobby can be fun. You know how was your fist time. Movement has 40h power reserve.

One more minus for me it is the crown. Crown is at four and is is biggest difference between Rolex Datejust and Citizen. It is small and awkwardly positioned under the case. Its hard to pull it out or wind it. Grip is bad so don't clip your nails. Winding sound is good.

Ahhh intergrated bracelet. Type of bracelet the watch world its going nuts about it. Comperissons between Tissot PRX are already happening. Personally I love them both but I have to give Citizen the slight edge. Bracelet is comfortable and up to now I have not lost any hair on my wrist. But there is a twist. Bracelet rattles more than rattlesnake snake it self. I don't mind it, but probablly some will. Clasp is okay, but would prefer tri fold push button clasp. You know for extra safety. I still hope we will get a strap option soon.

And for the price? I get a headache when I am reading about prices around 450USD. Crazy and too much. In EU (Slovenia) it retails for around 300€ (325$). I do not know why are US prices like that, but for me this watch is not worth that much. I would save a bit more and buy Tissot PRX Powermatic 80. Talk with AD, maybe you will get a disscount.

Conclusion - should you get it?

It is a fun watch, perfect for summer. I do not regret buying it and I am sure it will get a lot of wrist time. Great watch for introduction into the watch world. Good gift for anyone. For US price point I do not believe it is worth it, but you can probably always get a discount. Will it stay in my collection? Yes.

Thanks to AD in Slowatch, Ljubljana.

It's powered by a Miyota 8K series movement, so it's a hard pass from me.

Nice watch & great review. It is always nice to see a review of a watch that is not covered in many places.

·

So cool! It definitely reminds me of the Yellow OP, which was so sadly discontinued - the bracelet and case are interesting! It looks pretty well made but man that crown does look tiny huh?

·

I looked at these, but I have already found the 40mm PRX too big.. So I was hoping for a smaller size. The watches are cool, but the yellow is baller 😎

·

My favorite color of the group.

·

What a fun watch for summer, I love it! You've inspired me to break out my yellow-dialed watch.

Yeah, but bigger crown on 4h position would look weird

I want them all haha

Thanks for the review! I'm keeping my eyes out for a teal dial

·

My wife loves her light blue one. I wound up with a yellow.

I tried that one and I was really surprised. It looks really cool. I think the size it's fine BC the watch looks bigger since most of the watch is the yellow dial, so it's a loud watch. I am tempted by the "so hot right now" tiffany blue, but the yellow was really a surprise.
